Okarun’s Crush on Momo

A fateful meeting and a chance not to be missed

Okarun or Takakura Ken’s crush on Momo began gradually as the two began to spend more time together after their fateful first meeting, in which Momo saved Okarun from his class bullies. Although Okarun is usually a quiet individual, seeking not to gain the attention of his popular classmates, after meeting Ayase Momo, Okarun began to open up and become more assertive.

During their first meeting, Okarun was excited to connect with someone who shared a similar interest in UFOs. Although Momo initially didn’t share this excitement, the two formed an unexpected friendship. This relationship would take them on numerous supernatural and paranormal escapades, and they would acquire allies and romantic interests throughout their journey.

Initially, Okarun simply wanted to make a friend, as he had none in the past. However, witnessing how Momo genuinely cared for his feelings gradually sparked a crush on her, leading him to desire more time together. Following the incident with the Flatwoods Monster and Turbo Granny, Okarun retrieved one of his family jewels. This experience made Okarun and Momo realize they wanted to continue seeing each other, and the shared events brought them even closer.

Even though Shiratori Aira has expressed her feelings for Okarun, his focus remains solely on Momo. With Jiji now in the picture, Okarun is determined to win Momo’s affection despite having to contend with three more competing love interests.

Shiratori Aira is somewhat of a clutz who picked up one of Okarun’s family jewels. Soon after the incident, Aira starts to develop feelings for Okarun and is the only one actively vocal about it, often proclaiming her love for him whenever he interacts with her.

Immediately after, Aira believes to confess to the person you like, you must kiss them, as seen in the dirty magazines her father keeps in her library. Though many teenage boys would jump at the chance to kiss the popular Aira, Okarun vehemently rejects her strong advances, attempting to correct her misunderstandings and stop her from kissing him. With this, Okarun displays his unwavering faithfulness to Momo, and at every point he interacts with Aira, he ensures that any possible misunderstanding is cleared up, as Momo is the only girl in his eyes.

After defeating the Kaiju, who turns out to be Vamola, who is suspected to have Okarun’s family jewel, Vamola kisses Okarun immediately after he opens the Kaiju suit. Unfortunately, this was also when Momo recovered from being inside the robot that Sakata Kinta had been piloting. While previously Okarun could stop Aira from kissing him as she declared she would, he could not stop the kiss from Vamola. In this case, Okarun did not think quickly enough to stop the kiss and defended the action as he was “shaken up” and saying that Vamola was “really pretty,” which sadly put him in the dog box with Momo.

After learning that Vamola is to wed Okarun, as he was the supposed powerful person to defeat her. Contrary to Aira, Vamola, aside from Momo, was the only person that Okarun would vehemently blush around, mostly likely due to the kiss that was shared. While Okarun is relieved that he cleared up the misunderstanding of why Vamola kissed him, Vamola is soon transferred to their school, where the two continue to spend time together, much to Momo and Aira’s displeasure. Although Okarun blushes around Vamola since she is a pretty alien, he ultimately rejects her advances by admitting he is in love with Momo.

Okarun has accumulated numerous love interests throughout the series, including Momo, Aira, Vamola, and possibly Sawaki Rin. Her protectiveness of him could indicate her growing feelings for him. However, this may only be because of his Turbo Granny transformation, in which he looks like a vampire.

While Momo is aware of the growing feelings of the other women and gives them and Okarun hell for it, she remains their trusted friend, fully knowing that Okarun has feelings for her, as of Chapter 159. However, Rin has not made any moves on Okarun. While Okarun has plenty to choose from, it’s Momo who holds his heart, which is why he remains faithful to her, not wanting to lead on the other women.
