A reliable insider has alleged that PlayStation‘s first State of Play for 2025 will be held next month. Several big games are scheduled to land on PlayStation platforms in 2025, and a State of Play presentation that sets the tone for the year may not be that far off.
PlayStation usually holds three State of Play events throughout the year to announce games from its first-party studios, as well as third-party partners and indie developers. 2024’s State of Play presentations also saw a larger PlayStation first-party presence, with the May 2024 State of Play revealing Team Asobi’s Astro Bot and an extended gameplay trailer of the now-defunct live-service shooter Concord. The last PlayStation State of Play aired in September 2024, announcing Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered and the highly-anticipated Ghost of Yotei.

What to Expect For PS5 Games in 2025
The PS5’s had a wide variety of highs and lows throughout 2024, but now it’s time to look into what the future holds for Sony.
The State of Play schedule has always included a presentation in the first quarter of the year (most often February) to shed light on upcoming game releases. In keeping with this timeline, credible industry insider NateTheHate2 recently hinted on Twitter that 2025’s first PlayStation State of Play is slated to broadcast in February. NateTheHate2 carries a fair bit of reliability, as they accurately leaked the Nintendo Switch 2’s reveal date earlier this week and have been proven right on several prior occasions as well.
Major Upcoming PS5 Games That May Show Up in Rumored February 2025 State of Play
- Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
- Fairgames
- Ghost of Yotei
- Grand Theft Auto 6
- Judas
- Marathon
As for what PlayStation fans can expect from the purported February 2025 State of Play, new trailers and release date confirmations for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and Ghost of Yotei seem quite likely. Director Hideo Kojima stated in September 2024 that a release date for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach had been locked down, but would only be revealed in 2025. Ghost of Yotei, meanwhile, was confirmed for a 2025 launch in the September 2024 State of Play, so the chances of it showing up in the rumored February 2025 State of Play are favorable. Bungie also confirmed last year that it will share new details about its Marathon revival in 2025, and the February 2025 State of Play may be a likely venue for the same.
Insomniac Might Be Ready to Reveal Venom Spin-Off Game at February 2025 State of Play
Sony could also have a couple of unexpectedly huge aces up its sleeve for the alleged State of Play next month. Gameplay for Haven Studios’ live-service heist shooter, Fairgames, might finally debut at the February 2025 State of Play. On a bigger note, December 2023’s calamitous Insomniac leak revealed that the studio is working on a Venom spin-off game dubbed Venom: Lethal Protector which is scheduled for launch in 2025. Perhaps this could be the show-closer for February 2025’s rumored State of Play.
However, the most optimistic and distantly possible announcement for the February 2025 State of Play is GTA 6‘s highly-anticipated Trailer 2. Sony was rumored to have secured marketing rights for GTA 6 last year, and if this is true, the game may finally receive a new trailer at a PlayStation event. GTA 6 is undoubtedly the biggest game coming this year, and if the destination for its second trailer is indeed the rumored February 2025 State of Play, then it’ll easily shatter PlayStation’s viewership records.
PlayStation 5
Sony’s PlayStation 5 is part of the ninth console generation and debuted with a launch lineup that included Demon’s Souls and Astro’s Playroom. The console comes with a Blu-ray disc, although a digital-only edition is also available for a cheaper price.
