NetEase recently announced a fantastic roadmap of how it intends to grow its rosters in Marvel Rivals. The game director for the title is Guangyun Chen, who said heroes will appear regularly in Marvel Rivals. One hero appears every six weeks. This translates to two new heroes per season, hence delivering constant gameplay experiences.

Season Structure and Content Overview
A new season in Marvel Rivals consists of three months and is separated into two parts. Each part will bring about a new hero that players will get to unlock to keep introducing fresh tactical moves and improve the teams’ structures. Besides the heroes, new seasonal stories will come along each season, in addition to some maps and elements related to a given theme or idea for a specific season.
Chen emphasized that the selection and introduction of heroes are closely tied to the seasonal theme and gameplay dynamics. For example, the roster at launch is going to be very well-rounded between eight Vanguards or tank roles, and seven Strategists or support roles, while placing a big focus on building the Duelist (damage-dealing) category for more tactical players.
Community Feedback Drives Development
NetEase has expressed a commitment to engaging with the Marvel Rivals community to refine the game further. Feedback from players will play a significant role in determining which heroes are prioritized for future releases. “We want to ensure that everyone feels valued and excited,” Chen commented, underscoring the studio’s dedication to delivering a player-centric experience.
The recently released season 1 has already introduced Fantastic Four to the hero mix along with three new maps, Doom Match mode, and special events.
Upcoming Heroes in Marvel Rivals
Fans can expect to see the Human Torch and The Thing arrive around the end of February 2025. These new heroes will add more dynamics to the gameplay and expand on the existing roster.

Latest leaks from game has files have also indicated Emma Frost and Jean Grey are on their way to Marvel Rivals. Emma Frost has two forms, Diamond and Telepathic, offering different approaches to combat, while Jean Gray has Phoenix Form with fiery offensive capabilities. Future inclusions will also include Professor X, Jia Jing, Paste Pot Pete, Colossus, and Locus.
