Marvel Rivals Season 1 Sees Storm And Rocket Rise To The Top Of The Meta

Summary

  • Storm & Rocket Racoon lead the Marvel Rivals meta with significant win rate increases.
  • The Hulk dropped from first to tenth place due to nerfs; Hawkeye’s nerf saw the most impact.
  • Other changes from Season 1 include Mister Fantastic cracking the top ten and Hela falling sharply

Marvel Rivals Season 1 bought with it the game’s first major shake-up to the meta. Heroes like Hela and Hawkeye received hefty nerfs, Storm and Cloak and Dagger received buffs, and two new characters, Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman, entered the fray.

Spider-Man 2’s Advanced Suit Is Coming To Marvel Rivals

I guess you could say the suit is travelling… across the Spiderverse.

These changes have seen some big rises and falls in the most successful hero category, with Storm the biggest winner of all.

Rocket Racoon in Marvel Rivals

In a previous analysis, The Incredible Hulk was found to be Marvel Rivals’ most successful hero, with a 54.36 percent win rate. The Hulk was followed by Wolverine, Mantis, Magik, and Adam Warlock in the top five, and Peni Parker, Loki, Psylocke, Rocket Racoon, and Hela in the top ten. This has changed drastically now, though.

Using data from Rivalsmeta.com, Hulk, previously at number one, has dropped all the way to tenth place. Storm, on the other hand, wasn’t even in the top ten but now sits atop the leaderboard. Here, she has an almost two percent higher win rate than any other hero, with Rocket Racoon coming in at second place.

Magik and Mantis are the only two to retain their places in the top five, while Mister Fantastic stretches his way into the number seven spot. You can check out the full top ten below:

It’s interesting to note just how dominant the top two are, with four percent separating Storm from third place and two percent separating Rocket Racoon.

Storm’s success stems from the fact that almost all of her abilities were buffed during Marvel Rivals Season 1, with her Wind Blade, Bolt Rush, and Omega Hurricane all receiving a boost. Rocket Racoon’s Repair Mode also received a steady boost, helping to cement his place on the leaderboard.

Hulk’s four percent drop can be attributed to the boosts that other heroes received and the fact that his Indestructible Guard received a 20 percent nerf. While Hulk’s was bad, Hawkeye’s nerf was probably the most impactful of all. The hero went from a 48.40 percent win rate in Season 0 to a 42.21 percent win rate, lodging him firmly in third-bottom place, five percentage points adrift from The Punisher, who sits fourth-bottom.

Just spare a thought for Jeff the Land Shark and Black Widow, who still sit as the bottom two.
