Summary
- A Marvel Rivals player appears to have been hit with a 100-year ban from the game for cheating.
- A screenshot is circulating with a pop-up informing the player their account has been suspended until 2124.
- It’s believed the ban was issued for using a mouse and keyboard while playing Rivals on console.
NetEase has been doing a lot of things right with Marvel Rivals during its first month and a half, as exhibited by the more than 600,000 people playing it on Steam alone last weekend. However, there will always be issues that need to be ironed out in any live service game, and it seems dealing with cheaters is next on NetEase’s agenda with someone seemingly being hit with a 100-year ban.
That’s according to Marvel Rivals Intel and Marvel Rivals Media, both accounts that have been go-to’s for news and leaks about the hero shooter during its first month. Both accounts have shared a screenshot from the supposedly banned player, informing them that their account has been suspended and that they won’t be allowed to log back in and play Rivals again until December 19, 2124.

That presumably means the offense in question was committed, at least for the first time, on December 19 which means one of two things. It’s possible the ban was issued almost a month ago and fellow players have only just gotten wind of it. There were rumors that lengthy bans were being issued a few weeks ago, but nothing could be confirmed at the time.
Someone Won’t Be Playing Marvel Rivals Until The End Of 2124
Let’s Hope It’s Still This Popular 100 Years From Now
It’s also possible that NetEase is working its way through incidents of alleged cheating and banning as it goes. If so, that might mean something you did two weeks ago and thought you had gotten away with might still be punished in the coming days. The offense on the banner notes that the player was using a converter, something NetEase was only confirmed to be cracking down on in Rivals this week.
The converter allows players to use a mouse and keyboard, also referred to as ximming, giving them a significant advantage over their rivals. There is no cross-play in Marvel Rivals between console and PC when playing competitive for that exact reason. That’s why NetEase is cracking down on those using mouse and keyboard on console, and the length of the ban above implies the studio isn’t messing around.
While 100 years might be a little strong, those who have come up against cheaters will be pleased to hear that NetEase is trying to do something about it. The Rivals studio continues to provide nothing but good news when it comes to Rivals’ present and future, also revealing this week that it plans to add a new character to the roster roughly every month and a half.
