Not long after collecting the School Key from the boar in DreadOut‘s Act 1, players will find themselves being chased through a hallway by a collosal ghost. This is no typical hallway, though, as there is simply no end to it. Fortunately, it is possible to escape the endless hallway in DreadOut, and this guide explains exactly how that is done.
The ghost, Demit Lorong, will stop its pursuit after catching Linda once. Players will also unlock the specter’s Ghostpedia entry if they are caught. As such, fans of survival horror games may want to allow Demit Lorong to grab them before they worry about escaping the endless hallway.

DreadOut: How to Escape the Endless Hallway
Find the Invisible Door
The key to escaping the endless hallway is Linda’s phone, which has the ability to reveal invisible objects and entities when used as a camera. Indeed, there is an invisible door in the hallway, and players can find it by looking through the phone’s camera. More specifically, fans of indie horror games can locate the door by taking these actions:
- Pull out the camera and look at both the left and right walls.
- If this reveals three doors that are close to one another, the invisible door has been found. It is the middle door in the three-door group.
- If the player does not see a three-door group, they should simply continue looking through the camera while moving down the hall. Eventually, fans who perform this action will find the door that they need.
If a player is running away from the Demit Lorong, the three-door group will be on the left wall. That said, it is very easy to get turned around in the endless hallways, especially if the ghost has stopped its pursuit. This is why fans of horror games with female protagonists are advised to check both the left and right walls for the invisible door.
Open the Invisible Door
Once a player has used Linda’s phone to find the invisible door, they should put the camera away and approach the section of the wall where the door was seen. Fans must then simply press the interact button to open the invisible door and exit the endless hallway.
While the interact input is typically displayed at the bottom of the screen when Linda is near something with which she can interact, that is not the case with the invisible door. Additionally, the blue vignette, which usually indicates when an object of interest is nearby, does not appear in any part of the endless hallway. These factors are what make locating the invisible door so difficult, as they force players to use their cameras if they hope to solve this puzzle in DreadOut.
