Science SARU, the anime studio behind titles like Devilman Crybaby, Dandadan, Scott Pilgram Takes Off, and more, have a new movie coming out internationally this year called The Colors Within. The Colors Within is a new, original anime movie that released in Japan in August 2024, and is coming to theaters in America at the end of January. It is not connected to any existing anime series, which means that you can watch it without any prior knowledge needed. The Colors Within has been created by a cast of huge names in the anime industry, including scriptwriter Reiko Yoshida (K-ON!), and with music by kensuke ushio (Chainsaw Man). The story follows these three sensitive people who gather together to play in a band.”

The Colors Within will have a special screening a few days before its theatrical release in America on January 21st, 2025. The screening will be held at the Japan Society, located on E 47th Street in New York City. The Japan Society regularly does community outreach to teach about Japanese culture, both traditional and modern, and often hosts special events like this one.

Naoko Yamada will also attend this special screening, and she will give an introduction before the movie begins. After it concludes, she will also hold a special Q&A session. In addition to attending the premiere of The Colors Within, Yamada will also do a special autograph signing session at the New York branch of Kinokuniya book store on January 24th at 6:30pm. This gives fans of her work not one but two chances to see her in person.

The Colors Within has been licensed for international release not just in America, but also in the rest of North America, Latin America, Australia, New Zealand, and several countries in Europe. The movie will release with both a subtitled and English dubbed version in theaters. The Colors Within officially comes to theaters in America with both versions on January 24th, 2025.
