Civ 6’s Final Monthly Challenge Requires You To Win 4 Times In The Same Game

Civ 6's Final Monthly Challenge Requires You To Win 4 Times In The Same Game

Summary

  • A hard-hitting challenge for Civilization 6 has been released to see the game off before the release of Civ 7.
  • You’ll need to play as Age of Steam Victoria and win every possible victory type within a single game.
  • Presumably monthly challenges will return with Civilization 7.

With Civilization 7 releasing on February 11, there’s only time for one final monthly challenge for Civilization 6. Entitled “One Last Turn,” Firaxis’ final challenge will require all of your accumulated experience.

“For Civilization 6’s final monthly challenge, we’re going all-out! As Victoria’s Age of Steam persona, you’ll need to make the English victorious fourfold by achieving Diplomacy, Culture, Science and Domination victories. With no turn limit, you have all the time you need to build the greatest empire the world has ever known. Thanks to everyone who joined Civ 6’s monthly challenges; we can’t wait to take one more turn with you when Civilization 7 launches on February 11,” the challenge description reads.

This challenge shouldn’t be a problem for the most skilled of players because Civilization tends to snowball in all directions if you play efficiently. Oftentimes, the player with the highest science will also have the strongest military. The trick here will be to maintain strong cultural and diplomatic bases, too.

A user in the comments underneath the challenge has provided additional information on the challenge. It’s set on a randomised small map with five other players, has a special calendar with multiple turns per year, begins in the Ancient Era and has a quick game speed.

Other commenters are hoping that Firaxis releases every past monthly challenge, so players can earn all the badges they missed. It’s unknown if the publisher plans to do so. Presumably, the monthly challenge system will be included in Civilization 7 after its release next month.

Our own Harry Alston previewed Civilization 7 ahead of its release, saying he particularly enjoyed the new visual style of the game but still isn’t fully sold on the age transition mechanic that the new entry’s gameplay is going to be anchored on.

There are three ages in Civ 7: antiquity, exploration and modern. In each of these ages you will be playing a different civilisation (but your leader will remain the same), constantly shifting the dynamics of the game. It’s certainly a risk on Firaxis’ part – as the old adage goes, If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. However, innovation is certainly necessary. After all, there is still a cohort of players who prefer Civilization 5 to Civilization 6, and part of that is because the latter didn’t change the formula that Civilization 5 perfected. With these bold new ideas, Firax is hoping the player base will be captivated.
