FromSoftware games really do have some ugly little gremlins in them.

Speaking to Greg Miller on the Kinda Funny Gamescast for the first time since retiring from PlayStation, Shuhei Yoshida confirmed that despite calls for many PlayStation reboots, “Bloodborne has always been the most asked thing.”

He shared his own “personal theory” as to why the game hasn’t seen a remake, remaster, or even an update yet.

First confirming that because he “left first-party so has no idea what is actually going on”, he says, “Miyazaki-san really, really loved Bloodborne and what he created. I think he is interested, but he’s so successful, and he’s so busy, he cannot do it himself, but he doesn’t want anyone else to touch it. The PlayStation team respects his wish.”

Yoshida is quick to reaffirm that this is just a “guess and theory” and that he’s “not revealing any secret information, to be clear.”

I think he is interested, but he’s so successful, and he’s so busy, he cannot do it himself, but he doesn’t want anyone else to touch it.

So, while we’re no further forward to actually receiving the remake or remaster that we’re all so desperate for, or even any information on it, it’s an interesting insight as to why the ball may not yet be rolling.
