Treyarch and Activision have been accused by the Call of Duty community of allegedly using AI in the new logo for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s The Tomb Zombies map. This isn’t the first time the Black Ops 6 team has been under fire for seemingly using AI in certain designs, which raises concerns for the artists in the team. The map will be introduced in Season 2 and is also being welcomed to commemorate 115 Day, referring to the Black Ops Zombies story where the “Element 115” chemical causes the undead to rise.

Black Ops 6 was released in October 2024 and is the 21st Call of Duty game alongside being the seventh Black Ops entry. Further details have been announced for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s upcoming Season 2 update, revealing a co-op pause feature for Zombies, AFK Kick Loadout Recovery, and separate HUD presets for multiplayer and zombies to supply the best experience for gamers.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Teases Return of One Iconic SMG for Season 2

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 developer Treyarch Studios seemingly teases the return of an iconic SMG for the launch of Season 2 later this month.

Spotted by mod creator and dataminer EpicNNG on Twitter, the results of a third-party AI detection tool vetting The Tomb logo was posted on the social media platform, and the conclusion determined the design was 93% likely to be AI-generated. The same user conducted another test to determine the validity of the logo and pointed out the change in noise channels was a dead giveaway. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 announced The Tomb Zombies map recently, confirming its January 28, 2025 release date, and the map will continue the Citadelle des Morts narrative.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 The Tomb Zombies Map Logo Accused of Being AI-Generated

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Necroclaus loading screen was also under fire for possibly being AI-generated, when players spotted an extra finger lurking in the Christmas-themed zombie image. Some Black Ops 6 fans came to The Tomb logo’s defense, stating most AI detectors weren’t consistent. However, the second test regarding noise channels provided compelling evidence that was hard to ignore. Still, some players called AI-detection tools bogus, claiming that these websites even flagged their selfies as AI-generated.

Furthermore, 2024 reports alleged Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3‘s Yokai cosmetic bundle was partly created by AI, suggesting Activision was using generative AI such as GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 in its games. It was unclear whether the finger was being pointed at the Operator skin, weapon blueprint, or another element in the bundle, but concerns were raised over the use of AI in Activision’s headquarters contributing to mass layoffs.
