A large aspect of Stardew Valley is collecting ores and minerals for crafting and upgrading. But the mines are littered with deadly slimes, crabs, mummies, serpents, etc., so it’s important to have a strong weapon. Clearing the mines and dungeons will also allow players to complete quests, get shiny gifts for villagers they want to romance, and explore new and exciting areas within the game.

While the final decision is entirely up to the player, this guide highlights the best weapons choices following the 1.6 update.
22
Meowmere
20-20 Damage, +4 Speed, +2 Weight
- How To Get It: Place the Far Away Stone on the plant pedestal inside the basement of Wizard’s Tower.
The Meowmere is a unique sword weapon in Stardew Valley‘s 1.6 update, added as a special nod to the popular game Terraria. It’s a distinctive pink and blue sword with a cat-shaped hilt. Upon defeating an enemy with the Meowmere
, they explode into a shower of rainbow sparkles.
The Meowmere is the only sword in Stardew Valley that deals a consistent, unchanging amount of damage with every swing. This makes it stand out from other weapons, whose damage can fluctuate or increase with upgrades. Nonetheless, the Meowmere is mainly a cosmetic weapon, as its damage output is outclassed by other high-level swords.
21
Wicked Kris
24-30 Damage, +4 Crit Chance
- How to get it: Dropped by Haunted Skulls (Quarry and Mines) and in Boxes and Barrels
As a rule, daggers are faster than any other melee weapon in Stardew Valley. Although the damage might be lower, the ability to land more strikes makes daggers an excellent choice for combat. The Wicked Kris
is one of the stronger daggers, dealing between 24-30 damage with each strike – earning this vicious little weapon its name.
Finding a Wicked Kris is easier than a lot of other weapons, although it cannot be purchased from the Adventurer’s Guild. There’s a chance it’ll be dropped by a Haunted Skull, which inhabits both The Quarry and the Mines. It can also be found by breaking boxes and barrels in the mines, which means players better start smashing.
20
Iridium Needle
20-35 Damage, +6 Crit. Chance, +200 Crit. Power
- How To Get It: The Iridium Needle is a rare drop obtained from special slimes that spawn in the Mines during Qi’s “Danger in the Deep” challenge, activated by using the Shrine of Challenge.
Even though it looks tiny, the Iridium Needle
is a powerful dagger weapon in Stardew Valley. It has the highest base critical strike chance and critical power among all weapons. Interestingly, players can increase the Iridium Needle’s effectiveness by strategically combining crit-boosting equipment, professions, and food buffs.
At its peak, it can reach a 48.99% critical strike chance, with each critical hit delivering 14 times the normal damage. With the addition of +9 Luck from food and ring combinations, this critical strike chance can be further boosted to an impressive 60.01%. This makes the Iridium Needle an amazing choice for players who prioritize high-damage, high-risk gameplay.
19
Master Slingshot
Damage Dependent on Ammo (Est. 50-202)
- How to get it: Floor 70 of The Mines
The Master Slingshot
is the best slingshot in Stardew Valley. It can be found on floor 70 in The Mines as a reward for descending. This weapon can be challenging to use, but as the only projectile weapon in the game, it can be useful for taking out monsters at a distance.
The damage a slingshot can deal is completely dependent on the type of ammunition equipped. To do the most damage, players should use Iridium ore which causes 50-202 damage, or Gold which does 30-122.
18
Dwarf Dagger
32-38 Damage, +1 Speed
- How to get it: 1/21 Chance of spawning in a common chest
If fans are looking for a strong defensive weapon, the Dwarf Dagger
is a fantastic way to keep those monsters at bay. To obtain this weapon, players must explore the Volcano Dungeon on Ginger Island. The dagger has a 1/21* chance of being found in a common chest.

With a defense statistic of +6, this dagger has the highest defense level in Stardew Valley. Additionally, the Dwarf Dagger gives players +1 Speed, +2 Crit Chance, and +5 Weight. In total, it can deal 32- 38 damage to monsters.
17
Yeti Tooth
26-42 Damage, +4 Defense, +10 Crit. Power
- How To Get It: Inside boxes and barrels on Floors 80-90 of the Mines.
The Yeti Tooth
‘s combination of high damage, critical power, and defense makes it an amazing weapon for early-game Stardew Valley players. This sword has a unique icy blue appearance, reflecting its Yeti origins. Even though the Yeti Tooth gives the impression that it has some chilling effects, it unfortunately does not.
The Yeti Tooth boasts a base damage of 26-42 and a +10 Critical Power, which deals additional damage on critical strikes. Additionally, the sword provides +4 Defense, offering decent protection against enemy attacks. It can be found by breaking boxes and barrels on Floors 80-90 of the Mines.
16
Tempered Broadsword
29-44 Damage, +3 Defense, +3 Weight
- How To Get It: Inside boxes and barrels on Floors 40+ of the Skull Cavern.
While its attack speed is slower than some other swords, the Tempered Broadsword
is definitely a reliable and sturdy weapon. It has a high base Damage of 29-44 and comes with a +3 Defense bonus, making it excellent for protecting against enemy attacks. Besides this, the Tempered Broadsword gives a +3 Weight bonus, which means it can knock enemies back even further when they get hit.
The Tempered Broadsword can be found inside boxes and barrels on Floors 40+ of the Skull Cavern. However, if players have enabled remixed rewards when starting a new save file, they may be able to get the Tempered Broadsword as a chest reward on Floor 90 of the Mines.
15
Steel Falchion
28-46 Damage, +4 Speed, +20 Crit. Power
- How To Get It: After reaching Floor 90 of the Mines, purchase it from the Adventurer’s Guild for 9,000 gold.
While it may not be the most powerful weapon in the long run, The Steel Falchion
is a decent sword for early-game players. Its combination of high critical power and fast attack speed makes it an impressive choice for a sword. With a +20 Critical Power stat, the Steel Falchion has a significantly higher chance of dealing additional damage on critical hits.
The Steel Falchion has a base Damage of 28-46 which is pretty decent for early and mid-game monsters. Players can purchase it from the Adventurer’s Guild for 9,000 gold, or find it inside boxes and barrels on floors 40+ of the Skull Cavern.
14
Obsidian Edge
30-45 Damage, -1 Speed, +10 Crit Power
- How to get it: Floor 90 of The Mines
Obsidian Edge
is cool in both appearance and name. This wicked black blade does between 30-45 damage, giving it one of the broader damage ranges out of Stardew’s weapons. Unfortunately, this heavy sword does come with a -1 speed nerf, which balances out with a +10 crit power. While this seems like a rough deal, most big weapons come with a speed penalty to stop players from becoming invincible.
To obtain this sick sword, players will have to prove themselves in some serious combat. This weapon is located on floor 90 of The Mines, meaning it’s not something all players will be able to get their hands on. To make it even more exclusive, Obsidian Edge isn’t sold in the Adventurer’s Guild – so only the bravest will wield it.
13
Dark Sword
30-45 Damage, 9% Vampiric
- How to get it: Dropped by Haunted Skulls
The Dark Sword
is a fan favorite. This weapon has some amazing stats, but to find it, players will require a little luck. In the Quarry, players will discover Skull Cavern. This area is populated with Haunted Skulls. When killing these mobs, there is a 1.3% chance that the Dark Sword will be dropped.
The best thing about the Dark Sword is its Vampiric stat. With this stat, players will have a 9% chance of gaining between 9-10.67% of a monster’s health after killing it. Additionally, this sword can deal 30-45 damage and has +2 crit chance, although it is slower than many other weapons with -5 speed and +5 weight.
12
Dragontooth Shiv
40-50 Damage, +100 Crit Power
- How to get it: Open chests in the Volcano Dungeon
The Dragontooth Shiv
is a level 12 weapon that’s great for players who want decent damage with great crit power. If players aren’t concerned about having a weapon with defense, then the Dragontooth Shiv is a good, quick weapon that will deal around 40-50 damage.
To obtain the Dragontooth Shiv, players will have to venture inside the Volcano on Ginger Island. It can be found in a dungeon chest within the Volcano Dungeon and has a whopping +100 Crit Power. This can easily quadruple the damage dealt if players land a critical hit.
11
Alex’s Bat
40-55 Damage, -2 Speed
- How to get it: Purchase it from Alex’s stall at the Desert Festival
One of the biggest additions from Stardew Valley’s 1.6 update is the introduction of new festivals. One of these new festivals takes place in the Calico Desert, and this time the various denizens of Pelican Town can be found pedaling their wares. While this is a great chance to gain some insight into the locals, it’s also a great place to pick up some unique items.
Those who venture over to local sports star Alex’s stall will come across his trusty bat, which deals 40-55 damage – not too shabby for some old equipment. Like all high-damage, heavy weapons, there’s a speed penalty of -2. For players who like to hit hard and aren’t too concerned about speed, Alex’s Bat
is a brilliant choice.
10
Infinity Dagger
50-70 Damage, +3 Defense, +4 Crit Chance
- How to get it: Crafted in The Forge (Ginger Island) by combing the Galaxt Dagger, 3 Galaxy Souls, and 60 Cinder Shards
As one of the best daggers in Stardew Valley, the Infinity Dagger
can cause 50-70 damage. Considered the true form of the Galaxy dagger, this weapon must be crafted in the forge on Ginger Island. This is done by combining the Galaxy dagger, three Galaxy Souls, and sixty Cinder Shards in the Forge.

When using the Infinity Dagger, players will benefit from weapon stats including, +1 speed, +3 defense, +4 crit chance, and +5 weight, making this a very handy weapon for exploring. If sold, this weapon would be worth 800g.
9
Lava Katana
55-64 Damage, +25 Crit Power
- How to get it: Purchase it from the Adventurer’s Guild for 25,000 gold (only after reaching the bottom of the mines)
The Lava Katana
is a brilliant weapon choice because it’s relatively easy to obtain for any seasoned explorer. Instead of mindlessly opening dungeon chests and hoping for it to appear, the Lava Katana can simply be bought from the Adventurer’s Guild. The only caveat is that players must have reached the bottom of the mines first, otherwise it won’t be available – and it does cost 25,000 Gold.
The upside is that the Lava Katana does brilliant damage, and has a +25 crit power which will deal a fantastic amount of damage if players manage to land a critical hit. The Lava Katana also offers a +3 to defense and a +3 to weight, which adds extra protection and increases knockback against enemies – which can be huge if players are low on health.
8
Dwarf Sword
65-75 Damage, +4 Defense, +2 Speed
- How to get it: 1/21 Chance of spawning in a Volcano Dungeon chest
Like the Dwarf Dagger, the Dwarf Sword
has a 1/21* chance of being found within common chests in the Volcano Dungeon on Ginger Island. But this weapon is much more powerful than its shorter counterpart, with damage ranging from 65-75.
The Dwarf Sword can be sold for 650g and has several qualities that make it stand out from other weapons. For instance, its high +4 defense and +2 speed stat allow players to take down multiple monsters quickly and efficiently.
7
Galaxy Sword
60-80 Damage, +4 Speed
- How to get it: Take a Prismatic Shard to the 3 pillars in the Desert
The Galaxy Sword
is often considered a favorite among Stardew Valley players thanks to the easter egg style way in which players can obtain it. It can inflict 60-80 damage and is aided by a massive +4 speed stat that makes it incredibly useful, especially earlier in the game.
To obtain this weapon, players must find a rare Prismatic Shard and take it to the center of the three pillars in the Desert. Once the Galaxy Sword is acquired, the Galaxy Hammer and Galaxy Dagger can be purchased at the Adventurer’s Guild. Be careful not to lose or sell this sword as it can only be sold for 650g, but to purchase a replacement will cost players a massive 50,000g.
6
Galaxy Hammer
70-90 Damage, +5 Weight
- How to get it: Purchase it from the Adventurer’s Guild for 70,000 gold (after unlocking the Galaxy Sword)
The Galaxy Hammer
is a great heavy weapon choice for players who like weapons with good knockback. Most players don’t hold onto it for too long as it’s a key component in the creation of the Infinity Gavel – which deals the most damage in the game.
However, the Galaxy Hammer is powerful in its own right and can deal up to 90 damage with a normal hit. It also has a +5 weight which means it will knock enemies back further upon impact. It also gives a +2 speed, which means it’s one of the few “heavy” weapons that won’t slow players down when striking.
5
Dwarf Hammer
75-85 Damage, +2 Defense, +5 Weight
- How To Get It: Explore the Volcano Dungeon and open Dungeon Chests to find the Dwarf Hammer.
The Dwarf Hammer is a solid choice for players who prefer a more balanced approach to combat. It’s a club weapon that is exclusively found within the Volcano Dungeon, a challenging location on Ginger Island. Players will need to venture deep into the dungeon and open various chests to find the Dwarf Hammer
. Given that the drop rate for the Dwarf Hammer is relatively low, getting it may take some time and persistence.
With a base Damage of 75 to 85 points and a +5 Weight bonus, the Dwarf Hammer is perfect for taking down tough enemies, especially in the later stages of the game. If players are willing to explore the depths of the Volcano Dungeon, it’s worth seeking out this powerful weapon.
4
Dragontooth Cutlass
75-90 Damage, +50 Crit Power
- How to get it: 1/27 chance of spawning in a Volcano Dungeon chest
If players can manage to get their hands on a Dragontooth Cutlass
, they’ll find themselves to be a formidable foe to any monster in the game. Not only does this weapon have fantastic base damage, dealing between 75 and 90, but it also has a +50 crit power – which means a critical hit can deal upwards of 300 damage.
This level 13 cutlass doesn’t have any other extra perks, but a critical hit could easily one-shot most of the enemies in the game. The biggest drawback is that the Dragontooth Cutlass can only be found in chests inside the Volcano Dungeon on Ginger Island – and there’s a 1 in 27 chance it will drop from a rare chest.
3
Dragontooth Club
80-100 Damage, +50 Crit Power
- How to get it: 1/27 chance of spawning in a Volcano Dungeon chest
Clubs are some of the most powerful weapons in Stardew Valley, although their heavy weight and low speed can sometimes deter players. The Dragontooth Club
, for example, can cause a whopping 80-100 damage to nearby monsters, making it a great weapon choice for exploring the Volcano Dungeon.
