Best Characters For An Overload Team In Genshin Impact

Genshin Impact‘s combat focuses on using different Elemental Reactions to buff your damage in various ways. Where some, like Vaporize and Melt, multiply your damage, there are also additive reactions like Aggravate and Overload which add a separate instance of pain for those who stand against you.

These tips will help you get the most out of Neuvillette in Genshin Impact.

Additive reactions have never been as popular as their multiplicative brethren simply because bigger numbers are easier to gauge the strength of. Even among additive reactions, Aggravate and Electro-Charged have been used leagues more often than Overloaded. However, with characters like Chevreuse and Hoyo’s buff to Overload damage in 5.1, the best Overloaded teams have been able to compete with and deal more damage than the top meta teams in Genshin.

Hu Tao

Her Charged Attacks Can Overload Every Single Time

Hu Tao’s arguably one of the best hypercarries in Genshin Impact. Her being Pyro lets her use multiplicative reactions such as Melt and Vaporize to deal otherworldly amounts of damage. However, Hu Tao can also utilize the lack of ICD on her Charged Attacks to make a splendid Overloaded carry, triggering the reaction each time she performs her CA.

Whether or not this makes for a stronger team than traditional double Hydro Hu Tao is up for debate. Still, with Hu Tao Swirl setups always being difficult, popping in a Chevreuse with her can finally give her that 40 percent RES shred, even if she loses Vaporize for it.

6

Fischl

Fastest Off-Field Electro Application

Fischl is the strongest off-field Electro character in Genshin Impact, unless you’re talking about a Hyperbloom trigger. She has everything a good Electro unit needs and one of the best off-field skills in the game. She hits hard and she hits lots, with her passive talent and her C6 further buffing how many times she can apply Electro on an enemy.

Genshin Impact: Every Bow User in The Game

Genshin Impact is all about creating party synergy with abilities. These bow users offer great utility and some are even free!

If you have a strong and quick on-field Pyro carry like Hu Tao or even Yoimiya, Fischl’s damage paired with Overloaded can compete with the best off-field combos, even coming close to a Xingqiu Yelan duo.

Raiden Shogun

Strong Off-Field Electro, Tons Of On-Field Damage

Raiden Shogun seems to fit into any team regardless of what it’s trying to do. From the jaw-dropping damage-per-screenshot of her hypercarry teams to the monstrosity that is Rational, and even in Hyperbloom teams where she functions as an Elemental Mastery bot, the Electro Archon dominates all archetypes.

The reason Ei can slot into an Overloaded team as well is largely due to her Elemental Skill. It’s one of the longest skills in the game and provides decent Electro application, letting your on-field Pyro characters trigger Overloaded. She also buffs the Burst damage of many other strong Overload characters such as Xiangling and Arlecchino. Lastly, if all of this wasn’t enough, her strong base multipliers and fast rate of her Musou no Hitachi during her Elemental Burst can trigger plenty of Overloaded reactions, and the slight pursuit she has on each attack lets her follow enemies who’ve been knocked away.

4

Arlecchino

Extremely Strong Damage, Benefits From Chevreuse

Arlecchino follows Fontaine’s trend of releasing characters that can keep up with and rival established top tiers without entirely power creeping them. Arlecchino has done this to Hu Tao and serves as an alternative to the funeral parlor owner, having higher base values but less consistency.

While most people play Arlecchino in either a Mono Pyro or Melt team, her strong base lets you run her in an Overload team. This is especially true for Arlecchino-Chevreuse teams where she can make full use of the ATK buff and DMG shred gained.

3

Xiangling

Fastest Off-Field Pyro

Any list of strong characters that includes Pyro ones can’t be complete without mentioning Xiangling. She deals tons of damage and her Pyronado not having any ICD lets her cause reactions repeatedly. Since Overloaded is a reaction that scales well off of the frequency of reactions, Xiangling makes for a perfect Pyro unit for such teams.

There are a number of things to keep in mind, though. Xiangling requires tons of Energy to function, having a high-cost Elemental Burst. This means you’ll either need strong batteries like the Raiden Shogun or Bennett with her, or a team filled with Favonius weapons. So long as you can do that, you’ll have yourself a very fiery bagel!

2

Clorinde

Made With Overload Teams In Mind

Clorinde is a DPS made with Overloaded teams in mind. As such, she provides some of the highest DPS numbers of any other unit in Overload teams specifically. This is largely due to her ability to hit enemies quickly, as well as her self-healing letting her tank more damage than other characters.

While she can still function in Aggravate teams to a similar level of efficiency as Keqing, Clorinde is much more comfortable to play with Chevreuse and other Overload-centric units like Fischl. If you were to compare the best Clorinde Overload teams to the best Keqing Aggravate ones, you’d find Clorinde to be a significant enough improvement over the latter.

1

Chevreuse

Buffs Overload Themselves

Overloaded as a reaction had always been a bit lacking when compared with others. To combat this, Hoyoverse released Chevreuse, a specialized support for Overloaded teams. Like Nilou, Chevreuse lifted the Overload reaction up to heights it otherwise could not have reached.

Unlike Nilou, however, Chevreuse doesn’t do anything for the reaction itself. Instead, putting Chevreuse in your party gives all your characters Pyro and Electro damage bonuses, so long as there are no other elements present. While losing out on Viridescent Venerer might seem scary, Chevreuse provides enough of a damage bonus to combat the loss of VV shred, and each of her constellations increases her supportive capabilities even further.
