Rope is a resource in Aloft that players will use to craft weapons, structures, and more. While fans will eventually have large stockpiles of Rope, they may be confused about how they are meant to obtain the resource initially. This guide is here to alleviate that confusion, and it will teach players how to make Rope in Aloft.
Players should craft a Glider before they start trying to make Rope.

Aloft: How to Make Rope
Get Mykter Fibre
The first step towards making Rope is obtaining some Mykter Fibre, a resource that can be earned by dispatching foes and destroying nodes on corrupted islands. For full clarity, corrupted islands are the darkened land masses that fans can fly to as soon as they have crafted their first Glider. If a player has yet to encounter one, they should simply fly around and be on the lookout for an island that appears to be dark.
After landing on a corrupted island, players should search for a tall yellow stock that emerges from the ground. This stock will have several orbs extending from it, and each of those orbs award a Mykter Fibre when destroyed. Initially, fans of games with flying should consider breaking the stock’s orbs with the pickaxe that they created during the tutorial, though they may want to use a different tool when they have one.
To note, players will encounter enemies while traversing a corrupted island and as they destroy its yellow stock. While fans of crafting games will ultimately want to use a weapon, like a sword, to deal with these foes, they can use the pickaxe if necessary. Players who are struggling to beat enemies with their pickaxes can try this approach:
- Approach the enemy and hit it with the pickaxe from as far away as possible.
- Immediately start backing up to avoid the enemy’s attack.
- Repeat Steps 1 & 2 until the enemy falls.
Combine 2 Mykter Fibre
Once a player has collected some Mykter Fibre from a corrupted island, they can use two to make Rope. This can be done directly through the Crafting menu, and here is the process that fans of indie adventure games should follow:
- Press “c” to open the Crafting menu.
- Click on the Mykter Fibre twice to move it into the slots near the bottom-right corner of the screen.
- Click “Craft” to create a Rope.
Aloft: Finding Rope
While players are certainly free to craft all their Rope, the resource can also be found in chests and, occasionally, on the ground. Fans of indie survival games should thus keep an eye out for these other opportunities for earning Rope, as they are a great way to create a stockpile of the resource.
