The Pokemon Company has thanked fans for their patience regarding Scarlet and Violet — Prismatic Evolutions shortages, in addition to outlining some steps it has taken to alleviate them. This move marks the first occasion on which the group acknowledged the issues with the next Pokemon TCG expansion in any capacity.
Prismatic Evolutions is an upcoming card set that was originally announced at the beginning of November 2024, with its pre-orders opening a few days later. It’s scheduled for international release on January 17, thus being intended to help Pokemon TCG start 2025 on a high note. But as is often the case with the trading card game’s new expansions, Prismatic Evolutions has been affected by widespread shortages across the globe, including the United States.

The Prismatic Evolutions reprints currently in production are planned to reach licensed distributors across the country as soon as possible, the spokesperson said, without committing to a more concrete availability window. While many social media users have blamed the ongoing shortages on Pokemon TCG scalpers, The Pokemon Company merely characterized them as a result of “high demand,” not delving into any more specifics on the matter.
