Even though the year of the dragon has been replaced by the year of the snake, as implied by the Happy Meal set’s name, Dragon-types are this year’s Pokemon McDonald’s theme. Drampa, Hydregion, and perhaps the best-known Dragon-type Pokemon of all, Dragonite are all featured in the new set.
Don’t Panic, Pokemon’s Latest McDonald’s Crossover Is Coming To The US
15 Cards To Collect Starting From January 21
As is always the case with McDonald’s Pokemon cards, none of them are new. They’re all reprints that have featured in prior sets but with McDonald’s numbering that technically makes them different and unique from their originals. The holo cards, of which there will be seven to collect, will also be printed on confetti holofoil paper, a feature Pokemon exclusively uses for its shiny McDonald’s cards. All 15 cards available are listed below if you want to check them off as you find them.
- Charizard
- Pikachu (holo)
- Miraidon (holo)
- Jigglypuff
- Hatenna
- Dragapult
- Quagsire
- Koraidon (holo)
- Umbreon
- Hydreigon (holo)
- Roaring Moon (holo)
- Dragonite (holo)
- Eevee
- Rayquaza
- Drampa (holo)
For those of you who aren’t just interested in the cards, the promotion will also bring four new Happy Meal box designs along with it. Charizard, Dragonite, Rayquaza, and Roaring Moon are the stars of the boxes for Pokemon’s McDonald’s return. Each Happy Meal will also include posters and a sheet of stickers with spots for them on one side of the posters.
Here’s hoping Pokemon fans who are almost certainly too old to be eating Happy Meals don’t ruin this promotion for the people it’s intended for. There will undoubtedly be avid collectors desperate to get the full set and Pokemon cards, wherever they’re available, are in very high demand. The TCG’s Journey Together set sold out almost immediately and its Elite Trainer Boxes are already being listed on resale sites for hundreds of dollars.
