Game of Thrones: Kingsroad – Official Gameplay Trailer
Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is an upcoming action-adventure RPG for iOS, Android, and PC. Watch the official gameplay trailer here.
There is clearly an appetite for a Game of Thrones game on PC and consoles in the vein of Kingsroad. Game of Thrones: Kingsroad is set during Season 4 of the HBO show and features the likenesses and talents of prominent members of the cast. It gives players the opportunity to experience a Westeros adventure in a way that no other Game of Thrones game has so far. Considering this, hopefully the plan to release Game of Thrones: Kingsroad as a mobile-only game is reconsidered, and it can get a port to PC and consoles. And if not, perhaps the positive reaction to the Game Awards trailer will at least convince Warner Bros. that there is fan demand for a proper Game of Thrones video game.
Game of Thrones: Kingsroad Skipping Consoles and PC is a Mistake
Those that don’t mind Game of Thrones: Kingsroad being a mobile game should note that they can play it sooner rather than later. While a concrete release date has not been announced at the time of this writing, Game of Thrones: Kingsroad beta testing will begin on January 16 and last until January 22. The beta test will let players try the various classes that Kingsroad has on offer and explore its impressive game world.
In the meantime, console gamers may not have many options when it comes to Game of Thrones video games, but there are still some titles to consider. There’s the 2012 action-RPG Game of Thrones, developed by Cyanide, that is available on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360, though it admittedly earned mixed reviews at the time of its release. Reigns: Game of Thrones is available on Switch, but hasn’t been released on PlayStation or Xbox. And sadly, the Telltale Game of Thrones game has been delisted with no plans announced to bring it back. The Game of Thrones franchise is ripe for gaming adaptations, so hopefully Kingsroad or some other title will eventually release on PC and consoles.
Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones, based on the Song of Ice and Fire book series by George R.R. Martin, tells the sprawling story of warring families in Westeros. This includes the Starks, the Lannisters, the Baratheons, and the Targaryens. Along with human conflicts, Westeros is also threatened by the re-emergence of dragons, and an undead enemy from beyond the Wall.
