Fortnite’s Overhauled Quest Menus Aren’t Going Down Well With Players

Fortnite's Overhauled Quest Menus Aren't Going Down Well With Players

Summary

  • Fortnite has overhauled its quest menus via this week’s 33.20 update.
  • All quests for all modes are now under the quests tabs with submenus for each.
  • Players are unimpressed, many noting that it’s taking them a lot longer to sift through the new menus.

Fortnite received its first big update of 2025 this week and the biggest takeaway from it is that it seems to be adding a mythic to the game that will let you become a full-size, incredibly overpowered Godzilla starting this Friday. That’s the good news. The bad news, for some at least, is that Fortnite’s quest menus have been completely overhauled, and it seems the majority aren’t all that enamored with what they look like now.

Until this week’s update, quests were listed under their own tab and you needed to have a specific game mode selected to see its corresponding quests. Now every mode’s quests are available to see at all times regardless of which mode you have selected, each of them given their own section.

Everyone say thank you to Hatsune Miku.

On the one hand, it sounds pretty good. No more switching between modes to check quests and which ones are worth doing next. However, the overwhelming reaction to this change has been that navigating the quest menus is now more time-consuming, as highlighted by Game Rant, not less. So much so that players have already reported suffering eliminations while checking them in-game to see which quest they should tackle next.

All Quests In One Place, But It Might Not Be As Good As It Sounds

While not needing to have a particular mode active to view its quests is a plus, lumping everything together has naturally resulted in the quests tab having more submenus to sift through than it did before. When you’re in the heat of battle, wondering what your next action should be to ensure you maximize your XP, scrolling down to an option just to be met with another list of options isn’t ideal. Plus, as some have fallen foul of already, while you’re standing there with a screen full of menus, any enemies who happen upon you will eliminate you with ease.

Not everyone hates the new menus, though. Some can see the vision and admit that with all quests under one virtual roof, it makes the tab look and feel a lot cleaner. There will always be detractors though, and it will be interesting to see if their complaints are loud enough that Epic rethinks the change and reintroduces the old way of listing quests.

One thing that was a part of the update that hasn’t received an ounce of bad feedback, at least not any I’ve seen, is the addition of Hatsune Miku to Fortnite Festival. The hugely popular virtual popstar is Fortnite Festival season seven’s icon and can be unlocked by simply buying the music pass. An alternative Fortnite-themed skin for Miku can be unlocked by completing it.
