The levels of your Sinners in Limbus Company play a big part in determining their overall combat strength. As with other RPGs, players will have to worry about leveling their teams up here if they want to make progress or challenge difficult content.
Even the best Sinner Identities in Limbus Company won’t be able to hold a candle against enemies if they’re underleveled. For those who are new to the game, here’s a quick overview on how to best get XP for your characters.

We Need More Anime-Style Games That Aren’t Gacha
With Ananta and Neverness To Everness on the horizon, I can’t help but want a stylish anime game like those that aren’t gacha-based. I already have HoYoVerse games scratching my itch for the latter, and I really wouldn’t mind a triple-A experience in the same vein as these games but without RNG monetization.
Combat and Grinding
For new players, you’ll mainly be earning XP through combat. All Sinners on your team will gain XP after successfully clearing a combat encounter regardless of whether they participated in the fight or not, though the characters who actually fought gain more XP than those who did not. However, as with many other F2P gacha games, this is a slow process, and as battles become more difficult, you’ll need to find a better way to level up.
After making it halfway through Canto 2, you’ll unlock the Luxcavation mode, which will let you challenge specific enemies to gain a variety of rewards. The fights themselves are decent sources of XP, but more importantly, you can get consumable items from them that are great for leveling up.
Using Consumable Items
If you don’t want to manually grind XP to max out your Sinners’ Identities, you can instead use Level Boost Tickets and Identity Training Tickets. These are consumable items meant specifically for leveling characters up, and they come in various rarities.
Identity Training TIckets
Identity Training Tickets increase an Identity’s XP by a flat amount. These are the equivalent of level-up materials for characters in other gacha games like Honkai Star Rail or Genshin Impact. They’re great for cutting down the XP grind, but you’ll likely need lots of these tickets if you want to max a single character out. These come in four tiers, with each offering more XP than the last:
- Identity Training Ticket I: 50 Identity XP
- Identity Training Ticket II: 200 Identity XP
- Identity Training Ticket III: 1000 Identity XP
- Identity Training Ticket IV: 3000 Identity XP
You can get these tickets primarily by farming the EXP Luxcavation stages. They can also be obtained from the free and paid Limbus Passes as well as the periodic attendance check events.
Level Boost Tickets
Level Boost Tickets bypass XP needs and take your Sinners’ Identities straight to a specific level. These are much more valuable than Identity Training Tickets since they’re basically leveling shortcuts, but as such, they are also much rarer. They’re mostly obtained via the Limbus Pass, though they are also sometimes given during attendance check events. Unlike training tickets, these cannot be farmed. Different Level Boost Tickets will raise your characters up to the following levels:
- Level Boost Ticket I: Level 10
- Level Boost Ticket II: Level 20
- Level Boost Ticket III: Level 30
- Level Boost Ticket IV: Level 40
As of writing, Identities can reach a max level of 50. Consider balancing the use of your Level Boost Tickets and Identity Training Tickets if you want to level up multiple characters at once.
These consumables can be used by going to the Sinners menu and long-pressing the portrait of the character you want to level up.
