Dragon Ball games saw a big year in 2024, expanding with the release of Sparking Zero. This more nostalgic game proved to be more fun to play against each other than expected, although it hasn’t quite dethroned FighterZ as the best competitive game. An event was planned to celebrate all titles, the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour. However, with the unfortunate weather in its host city, it now looks like the event will not be going ahead.
Earlier today, organizers of the event released a statement explaining what was happening with the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour. The tournament is being canceled for now, due to the wildfires currently taking place. Since the event was due to be held in Los Angeles, this is no longer possible given the scale of the emergency happening here. The scale of the wildfires means this isn’t the biggest surprise, there’s been a lot of loss in the region. It will mean fewer events for some of the biggest fighting games in 2025, at least until the replacement is announced.
What was the event going to be and can we expect a new version to be held at any point?
Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour Cancelled
The Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour was planned to be a tournament stretching the full breadth of Dragon Ball games. Including the recently released Sparking Zero. However, also events for Dragon Ball Card Game, Dokkan Battle, and FighterZ. Between the events of head to head matches or Sparking Zero, there was even a special panel planned for Dragon Ball Daima. A prequel to Super currently being aired.
In a recently posted statement, organizers behind the event have confirmed it is being cancelled. Due to the current wildfires, the event won’t be able to take place. They have said they’ll be making future events for each of the games featured though. While it seems the Battle Hour itself isn’t going to be replaced, these games might get similar events held independently over the coming months.
