One Piece, throughout its massive runtime, has run into a bit of an issue with reusing similar plots. It seems, more often than not, during One Piece’s arcs, Luffy is following the desperate plea for help from a local on the island, and fighting in some life-or-death struggle to liberate their kingdom.
Due to this, there are many characters who tend to overlap a bit in design and story roles. However, no two characters seem to overlap, like Kyros and Cobra. These two characters, while interesting in their own rights, fill the same role in their respective arcs of One Piece, and look incredibly similar when put side by side. While there are plenty of smaller details that separate the two, at a cursory glance, Kyros and Cobra may be way too similar.

Two Fathers From Two Completely Different Worlds
Nefertiti Cobra is the father of Vivi and was the former ruler of One Piece’s kingdom of Alabasta. Although he was extraordinarily legendary in the kingdom of Dressrosa, Kyros was forgotten by society after he was turned into a toy by Sugar’s overpowerd Devil Fruit. Kyros, being the father of Rebecca, played a vital role throughout Dressrosa, which eventually led to the reunion between him and his daughter.

Though this may seem bizarre, a similar phenomenon does happen with female characters as well, with many of them looking like Nami.

However, at the same time, these two characters also fill a similar role in their respective arcs, acting as a father figure to the main One Piece princesses. Although their personalities are fairly different, Cobra and Kyros, at their cores, are loving and protective fathers who want to help free their homes from the clutches of evil. The only difference is, that while Cobra takes on a more supportive role, Kyros physically joins the final battle, acting as one of the strongest soldiers fighting against the Donquixote Pirates.
