We’re still several weeks away from the expected AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT on sale date, with most retailers at best listing the cards as available for pre-order and most still not showing the cards at all. However, one Danish retailer has pulled the trigger, listing the cards as fully available with “shipped same business day” delivery.
There is at least one major problem with this listing, though. Putting aside that the retailer will likely not in fact honor the sale so far ahead of the card’s official launch, there’s also the fact that the retailer is asking $1,284 for the card. AMD‘s latest may well stand a great chance of becoming the new best graphics card for the mid-range sector but that’s only if it costs less than half that price.
The retailer in question is called Foniks (fcomputer.dk), which is a site that sells a wide range of gaming PC hardware, including upcoming RTX 5000 series cards. However, while the the likes of the RTX 5090 have a neat little message saying “NOTE: Products are expected to be in stock from January 30, 2025,” this level of caution doesn’t appear to have been applied to its new AMD GPU listings. The listing was original spotted by X (formerly Twitter) user @momomo_us who posted a screenshot of the listing.
The specific cards in question are both Gigabyte models of the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT. Equipped with 16G of VRAM and a triple-fan cooler, these cards look every bit like the dozens of 9070 XT cards we saw on the show floor at CES 2025, where the cards were announced.
While the RX 9070 XT is listed at 9,299DKK ($1,284), the RX 9070 is a little cheaper, but it’s still far too expensive for compared to what we expect the card to cost. It’s still listed at 7,599DKK, which works out to be around $1,048.
We went to the site and got as far as adding the card to our cart and seeing in our basket ready for payment, though didn’t go through with the purchase at this inflated price. If you want to pay over the odds and possibly get an RX 9070 XT early, though, the option is seemingly there, if the company will ship to you.
For the rest of us, we’d recommend holding on for just a few more weeks so that you can get a pre-order in at a sensible price. And while you’re waiting you can check out one of the key features that will be coming with these cards, which is the company’s latest FSR 4 upscaling tech. Our FSR 4 hands on experience has us thoroughly convinced it will offer a huge improvement in image quality compared to FSR 3, though the level of its frame rate boosting power is yet to be seen.
