When Squid Game first hit Netflix in 2021, it instantly became one of the platform’s most-watched series. Audiences loved the show for its concept and brutality, perfectly proving the moral dilemmas introduced by the creators. The show, through the games of survival, was a commentary on inequality, greed, and human nature. Paired with an amazing soundtrack, the show brilliantly introduced Korean culture and traditional childhood games to the world.

Everyone thought his character would undergo some miraculous development, expecting him to step up and save Se-mi when Nam-gyu stabs her to death during the riot. Instead, Min-su just hides watching everything, showing that not everyone can be a hero, and sometimes, survival means doing nothing.

The Costumed Performer Becomes Guard 011
Kang No-Eul, Number 011, is a character whose motives are left for the next season to unravel, as no one really knows how a performer at a theme park ended up as a masked soldier in the games.
Originally a North Korean defector, Kang No-Eul fled to South Korea after killing her senior officer while leaving behind her newborn daughter, whom she has been searching for since the start of the show. While many of us expected her to join the games as a participant, it turns out she became one of the soldiers instead, making her character even more mysterious.

A Very Serious Russian Roulette, Keeping Us At The Edge Of Our Seats
The first season introduces us to the Recruiter, a mysterious guy in a suit who walks around the city, recruiting people for the games after challenging them to play ddakji. In S2, we see how messed up he really is when he forces Gi-hun to play Russian Roulette with him.
The rules are simple, they would take turns pulling the trigger of a revolver with one bullet aimed at their heads. In the end, the last bullet is aimed at the Recruiter’s head, and to everyone’s shock, he pulls the trigger, ending his life.

New Games
The New Season Demands New Fun
The Six-Legged Pentathlon is a Korean game where contestants team up and complete five different challenges, all within a set time. In Season Two, this game shows up surprisingly.
After the first game, Red Light-Green Light, most of us thought we’d see some familiar games from the first season. But the show threw us a curveball and even Gi-hun was caught off guard. It seems like the VIPs might have added this game to demotivate Gi-hun, but it was a smart move at the creative end to keep things fresh and introduce the viewers to other traditional Korean games.

In season two, we see that Jun-ho is rescued by the captain, and he feels indebted to him for saving his life. Thanos Is Stabbed
The Rap God We All Loved Dies Abruptly
Thanos is one of those characters who live to make life difficult for everyone around him, much like Deok-su from season one, but he is much more fun to watch on-screen. While most of the participants would lose their composure during the games, Thanos would take an ecstasy pill and dance his way through it, always dropping some random rap verses throughout the season.

Gi-hun Learns A Harsh Lesson
