Nintendo Reveals When Alarmo is Getting a Wider Release

Summary

  • Nintendo’s Alarmo alarm clock will be available at retailers in March 2025.
  • Alarmo initially faced purchase restrictions due to high demand in Japan, now available for pre-order there.
  • Mixed reactions to Alarmo release among fans, some prefer news on Nintendo Switch 2 and upcoming games.

Nintendo‘s popular alarm clock, Alarmo, is officially coming to stores in March 2025. The retail Nintendo Alarmo release has been anticipated since its arrival as a Nintendo website-only purchase.

Alarmo arrived as a Nintendo surprise, as it was suddenly announced without any real teases or build-up beforehand. Nonetheless, the Nintendo Alarmo has been wildly successful for the company. Even though Nintendo put purchase restrictions in place that limited the number of devices a single user could buy, interest in the device was so high that Alarmo sales in Japan had to be limited further by limiting buyers via lottery.

Rumor: Ubisoft Could Be Planning Major Switch 2 Support

The latest rumors suggest that Ubisoft could be going all-in when it comes to the Nintendo Switch 2.

Now, Nintendo has officially revealed Alarmo will be arriving at standard retailers in March, with no restrictions placed on who can buy it. The exact date the units will be arriving and a list of participating retailers haven’t been announced, but fans can likely expect to find them at places like Target, Walmart, and/or GameStop, as Nintendo products tend to be carried at these stores. For those who don’t want to wait, as of this writing, the Nintendo Alarmo appears to be in-stock for purchase on Nintendo’s site, though a NSO account will still be needed to purchase it through this avenue.

Nintendo Fans Share Mixed Opinions on Alarmo Availability

Although the Alarmo has stirred up curiosity in the community, the reaction to this news has received a mixed response. Many dismissed the announcement due to fans preferring to hear something about the Nintendo Switch 2, which despite multiple leaks, Nintendo has remained largely tight-lipped about. While the Alarmo is a cool novelty, it’s far from a gaming device, and dedicated fans want to know what’s next for Nintendo in terms of a new console and upcoming games.

This release may still leave some fans envious, though. In December 2024, Nintendo announced that Alarmo’s overwhelming popularity in Japan had forced the company to change its plans on how the device would be released there. Nintendo managed to secure enough supply, it seems, to switch from a lottery system to standard pre-orders for Alarmo. However, those orders aren’t expected to arrive until February, and general retail sales have been pushed back out of February to a later date which hasn’t been revealed yet. It’s not clear if there’s a supply issue with Japan’s version of the devices, or if it Nintendo is simply trying to maintain a supply of the Nintendo alarm clock on a global level.
