- Zombie Cap will face off in an epic battle against a main character of the show.
The MCU’s upcoming Marvel Zombies series is shaping up to be a must-watch for fans of the undead and superheroes alike. With its promise of gritty storytelling and terrifying twists, the show is set to expand on one of What If …?‘s most unique alternate realities. Adding to the excitement, it has been confirmed that a fan-favorite character will make a surprise cameo, fueling speculation about how they’ll fit into the chaotic, zombie-infested narrative.
Marvel Zombies is officially a follow-up to the What … If? Season 1 storyline that was loosely based on the Marvel Zombies comic books that envision a world where a zombie plague manages to break out on Earth. When The Avengers are sent in to try and stop the outbreak, they end up getting infected instead. Suddenly, the outbreak is bolstered by zombies that come complete with super powers. They also seem to have the ability to think a bit more than the original kind of zombie and that makes these walking undead that much bigger a threat to the heroes and villains on earth who are trying to fight back the horde.

Marvel Zombies To Feature Beloved Addition
Marvel Zombies Showrunner Bryan Andrews recently talked to CBM and explained how this four-episode miniseries came to be. “Brad and Kevin [Feige] loved the What If…? episode so much. They were like, ‘We need more zombies!’ They said, ‘Let’s do a sequel to that episode – but let’s do four episodes, like a mini-movie event.’ So, we’re upping the ante.”
Part of the upping the ante when it comes to this follow up to the What If…? episode is bringing back at least one of the most beloved characters from that installment. In order words, Zombie Captain America is coming back and will make at least a cameo. “An old favorite also shows up: Zombie Cap makes an appearance,” Andrews added. “He has quite a scuffle with another main character, and I think fans will love it.”
“He has quite a scuffle with another main character, and I think fans will love it.”
As has been the case with What If…?, Marvel Zombies will have plenty of star studded names voicing the animated characters. So when Andrews says that Zombie Cap is going to tussle with a main character, it means that there will likely be a tilt between two big names in the MCU. While it’s not clear if this is the entire list or just the actors that have been announced so far, Marvel Zombies features the voices of Awkwafina, David Harbour, Simu Liu, Elizabeth Olsen, Randall Park, Florence Pugh, Hailee Steinfeld, Dominique Thorne, and Iman Vellani.
Andrews also offered up one little detail about the action that will take place in the upcoming mini-series. “It’s TV-MA, so we don’t have to pull punches. We can be a little bit more hardcore. We go for the throat — no pun intended. It’s pretty wild, pretty out there.” Marvel fans will be able to see just how “out there” it is this fall when it hits the Disney+ streaming service.
Marvel Zombies is set to debut on October 3.
