LEC Winter Split 2025 – Kicking off the new season

Following a somewhat disappointing end to the 2024 season, the LEC teams are looking to step on Summoner’s Rift to deliver the best League of Legends action. With several roster changes across all teams, as well as the new format change, there are enough elements for fans to tune in and watch the first split of the 2025 season.

Schedule

The Winter Split will be starting on January 18, 2025, and will run until March 2, 2025. Matches take place every weekend, starting at 6 PM CET on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays. The tournament is divided into two stages:

  • Regular Season: January 18 – February 3
  • Playoffs: February 15 – March 2

Unlike last year, there won’t be a group stage between the regular season and playoffs. The top eight teams will be placed in a double elimination bracket, with all matches featuring the new Fearless Draft mode.

LEC Winter Split Week 1 Matches

There is usually more excitement in the first week of League action since fans will be able to witness the new teams and understand more about their potential. Here are some of the key changes from each team during the offseason:

  • G2 Esports: Mikyx and Yike were replaced by Labrov and SkewMond. G2 will continue to be front runners but their peak potential will be the key to the team’s success this year.
  • Fnatic: Picked up Upset and Mikyx, and should be a strong contender domestically and internationally.
  • Movistar KOI: the team picked up jojopyun from NA and put it alongside four Spanish players.
  • Rogue: ended up with a decent roster despite signing players last.
  • SK Gaming: Reeker returns to the LEC with top laner JNX, an interesting Korean bot lane duo.
  • Team BDS: interesting to see whether the roster changes (113, Irrelevant, and Parus) will improve the roster.
  • Team Heretics: Interesting team but several new names. Kamiloo picked up from LFL 2.
  • Team Vitality: New names with veteran bot lane of Carzzy and Hylissang. Team Vitality will be a question mark.
  • Karmine Corp: big winners of the offseason, bringing in Yike and promoting Caliste. These two are must-watch for 2025.
  • GIANTX: lineup of solid players, success will depend on how the team clicks.

Where to Watch
