Summary
- Horses in Kingdom Come: Deliverance have important stats like Speed, Courage, and Stamina that affect gameplay styles.

- Warhorse Jenda is a well-rounded option for all situations, while Pegasus offers a budget-friendly alternative with high speed.
While the focus in Kingdom Come: Deliverance remains on keeping Henry alive, fighting off Cuman soldiers, and establishing peace, it doesn’t mean there isn’t time to enjoy the lighter side of life. One way to incorporate both sides of the story is with horses, one of many animals that appear in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. Players can quickly get a trusted steed to their name by following the main quest, which players should prioritize in order to explore more at a greater pace. Over time, Henry has the option of purchasing another from one of the game’s many horse traders.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 – 7 Small Details From The Trailer
There is much to see in the Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 trailer, but some details are easy to miss if fans aren’t paying attention.
Horses range in size and color but also offer some important stats that players will want to pay attention to. Horses come with statistical categories, such as Speed, Capacity, Courage, and Stamina, which will have an impact on several different playing styles. They affect a horse’s ability to run at blazing speeds, haul bounties of heavy items, and stay in the heat of a battle without becoming frightened. Paying attention to these stats, as well as a horse’s tier level and purchase cost, will be important to how players wish to ride their horse, and will determine which horses are the best in the game.
Updated January 14, 2025, by Stephanie Harris: With the release of the much-awaited sequel, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, only weeks away, we’re yet to find out exactly what mounts will look like in the new game. As it currently stands, players of the original have a large variety of options when looking for a trusty steed, all offering different stats at vastly different prices. A few more entries have been added to this list to represent the scope of what is available to players searching for their ideal horse.

Podagros
A Good Starting Horse Mount
Speed |

---|---|
Capacity |
244 |
Courage |

Stamina |
410 |
Podagros is a Tier 3 horse that can be purchased from a vendor in Merhojed for 1620 gold. This low price tag makes Podagros the cheapest of the horses on this list and offers Henry a sturdy companion with good speed and stamina. These stats will help Henry travel from one town to another quickly, and Podagros has enough stamina in the tank to withstand long adventures or escape any threat.
Unfortunately, Podagros’ low courage stat ranks near the bottom of all horses, with Epona being the only one more fearful. Podagros isn’t great for adventurers looking to engage in combat while mounted, but certain perks in Kingdom Come: Deliverance can double its courage stat and give players a better chance of remaining on the battlefield. Otherwise, a lower courage stat will have Podagros tossing Henry off its back and fleeing.

Agro
A Courageous Horse Found In ‘From The Ashes’ DLC
Speed |
41 |
---|---|
Capacity |
268 |
Courage |
20 |
Stamina |
450 |
Named after a horse from Shadow of the Colossus, Agro is the most courageous horse in the game and a stunning, adventuring mount. Agro is found in the stables at Pribyslavitz, the town Henry rebuilds in From the Ashes, and costs 3100, certainly a hefty price tag. The stable is a building that should be developed later in the rebuilding process of Pribyslavitz because it is not a cost-effective choice.
The rebuilding of the stables makes the choice to buy Agro a personal and meaningful one, and having a private stable like the one at Pribyslavitz is considered a privilege. Overall, Agro is a horse with excellent stats, especially his stamina, which is tied with Kanthaka. In fact, Agro’s stats are better than every other horse on the list, but his exclusivity makes him inaccessible to a lot of players.

Pebbles
An Adequate Mount Throughout The Game
Speed |
34 |
---|---|
Capacity |
178 |
Courage |
8 |
Stamina |
210 |
While Pebbles is a fairly average horse in terms of stats, there are numerous benefits to using him as Henry’s mount. Pebbles can be acquired for free, and is available after the early-game timed quest, ‘The Hunt Begins’. Pebbles is gifted at the start of the quest and comes with a plain bridle and saddle. For a free horse, things could be worse, and he boasts reasonable capacity and stamina.
Pebbles can be upgraded with items like saddlebags, bridles, and horseshoes to increase his capacity, speed, and courage stats respectively, meaning players can easily continue using him into the mid-game without much trouble.
5
Chollima
Ol’ Reliable Can Outlast All Horses
Speed |
37 |
---|---|
Capacity |
188 |
Courage |
15 |
Stamina |
510 |
Chollima ranks first in stamina and is the only horse to breach the 500-point barrier while maintaining an above-average speed. This combination makes Chollima a reliable horse that can evade sticky situations quickly and is capable of running long distances before needing some rest. Chollima can be purchased in Neuhof for 1,860 gold, making it one of the cheaper Tier 4 options available in Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
For players looking to carry large cargo or fight while mounted, Chollima isn’t the best choice. With below-average capacity and courage, Chollima is best reserved for long adventures, or if Henry needs to avoid fighting. It certainly lives up to its name, which translates from Chinese to “a thousand li horse,” meaning a large measure of distance. As Chollima leads all horses in stamina, it’s only right to link this horse to a notable winged horse in East Asian mythology.
4
Shadowmere
Faster Than A Locomotive
Speed |
42 |
---|---|
Capacity |
292 |
Courage |
13 |
Stamina |
490 |
If blazing speeds don’t scare players away, Shadowmere is the perfect horse for traveling long distances in quick time while transporting tons of goods. Among all horses, Shadowmere leads the way in speed and capacity, while ranking third in stamina. This desirable combination makes Shadowmere an essential horse for roaming the open fields while scavenging plentiful items before being required to head back and store those goods.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Leaked
A long-time insider says Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will be revealed very soon after Warhorse Studios announced when its next game will be unveiled.
Shadowmere’s downfall isn’t just his underwhelming courage level, but the price of admission. Players looking to add Shadowmere as their traveling companion will need to fork over 3,100 gold, making this horse the most expensive in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. To find it, Henry would need to travel to the land of Pribyslavitz and find the horse vendor. On the bright side, it carries a ton of cargo, which means a few adventures will bring in plenty of profit to make up for the horse’s price tag.
3
Warhorse Jenda
Expensive, But Great At Everything
Speed |
41 |
---|---|
Capacity |
268 |
Courage |
17 |
Stamina |
450 |
Warhorse Jenda is the perfect example of a jack of all trades, but master of none. While this horse doesn’t beat out anyone in any statistical category, Warhorse Jenda places in the top six in all four areas. This makes Warhorse Jenda perfect for all situations, whether it’s long travels from town to town, or equipping Henry with a sword and rushing into battle head-on. Warhorse Jenda lives up to its name as one of the most courageous horses in Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
Players who purchase Podagros won’t have to look too far, as Warhorse Jenda can also be purchased from the same vendor in Merhojed. Coming in at 2,560 gold, Warhorse Jenda is the second-most expensive horse in Kingdom Come: Deliverance, but players shouldn’t hesitate to fork over the funds and add this horse to their side. Warhorse Jenda is one of the best Tier 5 horses available, and not too many options outclass its viability in the late stages of the game.
2
Pegasus
Best Bang For Your Buck
Speed |
42 |
---|---|
Capacity |
180 |
Courage |
15 |
Stamina |
310 |
If players don’t wish to pay a fortune for a horse that can run like the wind, Pegasus is a perfect alternative to some of the more expensive options. Traveling to the town of Uzhitz, the local horse vendor will be selling Pegasus for a low cost of 1,750 gold, making it one of the cheapest Tier 4 horses available. Uzhitz doesn’t have much else to consider, with seven horses in their stable and less than half surpassing the Tier 3 status. For conserving money, Pegasus will be tough to beat.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Promises More Reactive Systems
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 will feature an even more reactive system than the first game, including crime responses and reactions from Henry.
The biggest net positive from purchasing Pegasus is that it matches the speed of Shadowmere as the fastest horse in the game. It has above-average courage and stamina, which means Henry can remain in battle for longer than some of the other horses on this list will allow, especially if the right perks are equipped. The only setback is a severely lacking capacity level, which has Pegasus scraping the bottom of the list, but it’s a small price to pay for an even lighter hit to the wallet.
1
Kanthaka
The Bravest Horse In Bohemia
Speed |
39 |
---|---|
Capacity |
196 |
Courage |
20 |
Stamina |
410 |
When Henry wishes to mount a horse and let out a battle cry before rushing into combat, Kanthaka is the best available option in Kingdom Come: Deliverance. With a courage level of 20, Kanthaka is the bravest of all horses, sharing the spot with Agro, who is only made available through the game’s DLC. Kanthaka also has above-average speed and stamina, which gives Henry flexibility when deciding whether to remain in battle and fight, or flee to live another day.
Kanthaka is also surprisingly cheap compared to the other Tier 5 horses, coming in at a solid 2,130 gold. Kanthaka can also be found in Uzhitz, which holds Pegasus and gives players two of the best horses to choose from. Since the point of Kingdom Come: Deliverance is to head into battle and win the war, having a reliable horse that will brave the dangers and allow Henry to keep fighting takes priority over being the fastest or most durable horse — which Kanthaka doesn’t give up too much of, either.
