However, the process of using a Rabbit Cage successfully can take a little while to wrap your head around, and there are tips and tricks to use them effectively. When you master how to use these cages, you will be greatly prepared for the dangers of The Forest.
How To Build A Rabbit Cage And Trap
For a Rabbit Cage to be used successfully, you will first need a Rabbit Trap, so bear that in mind before starting the build. When you are ready to begin, you can find the Rabbit Cage structure within the Food section of the Survival Guide.
Interact with it in the guide as you would any other structure and find an area where you would like it to be built before interacting again to prepare the schematic for placing your required materials. You need 13 sticks for the cage which can be found on the ground to be picked up.
You can only carry a base amount of ten sticks at a time. You can return to the cage’s see-through schematic and place your ten sticks into the schematic before getting three more sticks to finish it off.
Crafting a ‘Stick Bag’ lets you carry more than ten sticks. However, since you will likely find all the needed sticks in a nearby area to your building spot, this won’t be too much of an issue.
Once you have made your Rabbit Cage, you can create a Rabbit Trap by following a similar process. The Rabbit Trap is in the Small Traps section of the Survival Guide and requires 31 sticks — a hefty amount.
How To Use A Rabbit Cage
When you have both your Rabbit Trap and cage ready, you need to wait until a rabbit wanders into your trap. Once a rabbit is caught, go up to it and interact to pick the rabbit up. Take it over to your Rabbit Cage and then interact again to place the rabbit in the cage; you can store seven rabbits in one cage.
Sleeping at night can speed up the (real world) time it takes for rabbits to be caught in a trap.
Rabbits have a small chance (ten percent) of breeding in cages overnight when you sleep, so we recommend having four rabbits in one cage and creating a few cages with the same number to help with this if you want to have a consistent food or Rabbit Fur supply.
You need to make sure there are a minimum of two rabbits and a maximum of four in a cage if you want them to breed. However, if you just want to collect some rabbits, then you can have whatever amount you’d like in the cage up to the max of seven.
