Fortnite To Let Players Equip Instruments As Back Blings, Pickaxes

Summary

  • It’s another week, which means Fortnite is set to receive another update.
  • This time, Hatsune Miku will finally join the game, along with local multiplayer for Fortnite Festival.
  • However, the real treat might be the ability to equip instruments as back blings and pickaxes.
  • The feature will make previously released characters like Metallica and Spider-Punk more accurate.

Beginning Tuesday, Fortnite is set to receive a major content update that will see the debut of vocaloid Hatsune Miku into the world of Epic Games’ live-service battle royale. And while Miku is undoubtedly the star of the show, the update will also bring local multiplayer into Fortnite Festival, and seemingly introduce Godzilla and King Kong.

That said, there is another hidden piece of news that has fans excited — the ability to finally equip musical instruments, including guitars, basses, keytars, microphones and drumsticks.

For Those About To Rock

Tucked away in the Fortnite website’s announcement of Miku is the following bit of information:

Starting with v33.20, you can equip some purchased or earned Guitars, Basses, Keytars, Mics — and the drumsticks from some of your Drums — as a Pickaxe or Back Bling. Check your Locker to see which of your Instruments can be equipped in new ways!

The update will seemingly breathe new life into several already released collaborations, while opening the door for multiple IP crossovers in the future. As one user on Reddit pointed out, Spider-Punk will finally be able to use his guitar the way it’s intended. “That’d be great,” a user wrote in response. “I avoided buying him just because he didn’t come with anything, this would fix that.”

Elsewhere, a Twitter user pointed out that the Metallica skins will have a new lease on them, now that the members will be able to equip instruments. Meanwhile, Johnny Silverhand will seemingly be more true-to-life with the ability to use a guitar, even if Cyberpunk fans think his inclusion is ironic.

Beyond the series-accurate looks that will come from the update, the real treat will likely end up being the types of combinations fans come up with. Anyone fancy Vegeta with a keytar?
