Fortnite OG Items and Effects

Fortnite brings nostalgia back to Battle Royale with Fortnite OG, placing players back to the beginning 7 years ago with Fortnite Chapter 1, Season 1. Within this mode, players have an OG map with an OG loot pool, so it’s going to be essential for players to know just what weapons and items they can find as they fight their way to a nostalgic Battle Royale.

Fortnite has an array of useful and useless weapons and items, and the Fortnite OG loot pool is something that players need to keep a close eye on, considering the path forward past Chapter 1 Season 1 will take players to Season 2 and onwards where different returning weapons will shake up the meta as we know it.

All Fortnite OG Assault Rifles

With the return of hitscan weapons, Assault Rifles have never felt better in Fortnite OG. However, the bloom of some weapons becomes quite troublesome, so it’s best to use the Assault Rifle above all else, especially when the Scoped Assault Rifle has a scope that doesn’t match where the bullet fires:

Assault Rifle

The Assault Rifle is the definitive weapon in Fortnite OG thanks to its easy bloom, accessible magazine capacity, and decent damage. The Assault Rifle should be in everyone’s inventory due to its reliability at every range of combat, especially if players get the rarest golden scar.

Burst Assault Rifle

The Burst Assault Rifle isn’t a reliable weapon to take due to its 3-round burst, which can really punish players who miss their shots. It’s unreliable and messy to use with a high bloom that will turn most players away from its design.

Scoped Assault Rifle

The Scoped Assault Rifle, along with the two Sniper Rifles, are the only ways players can aim in first-person in Fortnite OG. While the reticle of the Scoped Assault Rifle does provide an advantage with hitscan, the bullets always fire away from the crosshair, which provides a confusing weapon that most will miss their shots with.

All Fortnite OG Shotguns

Shotguns are essential to the Fortnite Chapter 1 Season 1 meta for a few reasons. They are hard-hitting and fast-firing DPS guns that will win almost any close-quarters fight, and the Double Pump method allows for a near-instant victory:

Pump Shotgun

With a headshot damage multiplier of 2.5x, there is tons of potential for the Pump Shotgun to insta-kill players. Using its Shells, the Pump Shotgun can be doubled up so that players can use two at once, flicking between both to avoid its reload to truly decimate enemies who dare enter shotgun range.

Tactical Shotgun

The Tactical Shotgun is a lot safer to use due to its high fire rate that allows players to eat its magazine capacity and with a headshot multiplier of 2.5x, damage can be lethal from close ranges.

All Fortnite OG Pistols

Pistols are great starting loot for players who have just dropped from the Battle Bus, but they shouldn’t be carried to the endgame. The two variants of the Pistol in Fortnite OG can be pretty decent:

Semi-Auto Pistol

The default pistol most commonly found on the ground, the Semi-Auto Pistol will use Light Bullets with a Headshot Multiplier of 2x and can be fired rather quickly thanks to its high fire rate on the trigger. However, it’s got a lethal quick and pretty bad damage drop-off.

Revolver

A Western six-shooter, the Revolver makes use of Medium Bullets with a decent headshot multiplier of 2x, but it has pretty gnarly kickback that means accuracy with its bloom will have players miss shots pretty harshly.

All Fortnite OG SMGs

SMGs are a competent choice in the close-range meta, but they won’t be able to out-DPS a Double Pump, and their lack of range makes them pretty useless from afar. Either way, here are the stats for the SMGs players can get:

Suppressed Submachine Gun

The Suppressed Submachine Gun uses Light Bullets and provides players with a 2.5x multiplier for headshots. It’s the best of the current meta for SMGs thanks to its suppressive fire and the damage falloff beginning at 20 meters.

Tactical Submachine Gun

A tiny SMG that is only efficient at short range, the Tactical Submachine Gun has fairly less bloom, but an inconsistent fire rate that might make short-range gunfights unpredictable, even if players have plenty of Light Bullets and a good record of hitting those 2.5x headshot multiplier shots.

Submachine Gun

Despite a high fire rate, the Submachine Gun will eat away at Light Bullets thanks to its ammo demands, and it’s fire rate is a detriment to its accuracy that will see players suffer if they try to use this in long range fights.

All Fortnite OG Sniper Rifles

Sniper Rifles return to their prime format, where players are going to have to calculate just where the bullet will land to get a lethal headshot. Luckily for players, there are two variants of the Sniper Rifle to find:

Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle

The best Sniper Rifle to expunge Heavy Bullets is the Bolt-Action Sniper Rifle, and with its 2.5x headshot multiplier, players can instantly knock down or eliminate enemies shot in the head. It’s brutal to be hit by, but 1 bullet in a magazine makes for pesky reloads between shots.

Semi-Auto Sniper Rifle

With a headshot damage multiplier of 2.5, the Semi-Auto Sniper Rifle comes close to eliminating players on full Health and Shield, but not quite. It’s still a pretty weapon, and it’s fast fire rate helps to eradicate builds and put the pressure on enemies as they try to run for cover thanks to 10 bullets in a magazine.

All Fortnite OG Explosives

Explosives are the easiest way to get a win in Fortnite OG thanks to how they can destroy builds and structures like they are nothing, leaving enemies stuck in the open and ready to be eliminated:

Rocket Launcher

The Rocket Launcher may only fire one explosive at a time, but it’s entirely lethal in the right hands due to how its splash damage and structure damage can destroy structures and wipe teams that are trapped behind small objects. The lack of damage fall-off is great, but its slow fire rate means it can be easy to avoid.

Grenade Launcher

If players want less damage but more chaos, the Grenade Launcher is the weapon for them. In those endgame battles where cover is limited and open areas are contested, players can fire a flurry of grenades from the Grenade Launcher to watch it all burn down.

Grenade

Grenades are projectile weapons that can be thrown, and will only detonate after a short period once they have landed and remained stationary. Grenades are perfect for erasing structures and cover that enemies might be hiding behind, and carrying 6 of them provides an explosive field of opportunity.

All Fortnite OG Traps

Traps are a returning aspect of Fortnite OG that many might have missed from the Chapter 1 era, and each of them has its own unique attributes that can be found below:

Launch Pad

The Launch Pad is the go-to mobility item in Fortnite OG thanks to the fact it can bounce players up and allow them to go to safety. It has a stack size of 2, and it’s perfect for escaping the storm, aggressive teams, or reaching high areas.

Ceiling Zapper

The Ceiling Zapper is used on ceilings within buildings to sabotage invading players, as those who run underneath the Ceiling Zapper will be electrocuted and instantly killed or placed into a downed state. It’s a brutal trap that players need to keep their eyes trained upwards to spot.

Wall Dynamo

The Wall Dynamo is much like the Ceiling Zapper, except it is placed on walls instead. Any enemy that walks into a structure with the Wall Dynamo present will be zapped and potentially killed, so it’s best to avoid closed areas where a wrong turning could mean a need for a reboot or return to lobby.

Damage Trap

The Damage Trap is the most classic of the Traps and it allows players to put a spiced floor down on a single tile. Those who run onto the booby-trapped floor with be stabbed for 150 damage. They are great in Build Mode for players to try and sabotage chasing enemies.

Directional Jump Pad

The Directional Jump Pad has a Horizontal and Vertical variant that can be found, and each of them will allow players to either bounce up or forward to negate all fall damage. They are best used to escape high places where jumping down would mean dying.

All Fortnite OG Consumables/Items

The consumable items in Fortnite OG are far rarer than future Chapters and Seasons, but here’s everything players can grab in Chapter 1 Season 1’s Fortnite OG:

Bandage

Bandages will fix players up by providing them with Health, but only to a maximum of 75. Bandages are a great way to stay in the fight thanks to their quick time of use, the fact that they can be used while moving, and how great they are for fighting against the storm.

Med Kit

The Med Kit is a defining way to get 100 Health back after a fight, a fall, or the storm’s tick damage. While Bandages will get players to 75 Health, the Med Kit will fight from 1 HP to 100 HP, and all players have to do is press the action button and wait for it to activate. However, it can be interrupted by running, getting shot, or jumping.

Shield Potion

The Shield Potion is a delicious beverage in a jar that will slowly fill the player’s Shields back to 50, or even 100. Outside of the Slurp Juice, it’s the only way to get Shields in Fortnite OG, and they can be rather annoying to find due to their harsh rarity and the lack of Small Shield Potions.

Slurp Juice

The Slurp Juice is a great way to find Health and Shield due to the fact that it can provide a total of either 75 Health or 75 Shields, depending on what’s missing. While it won’t fix 1 HP and 0 Shield players, it will certainly be that extra push they need to get back into the fight, even if the lengthy time it takes to finish healing players takes its toll.

Bush

The Bush can be used to apply camouflage to a play by allowing it to disguise itself as a prop bush. It takes 3 seconds to apply and can be stacked twice. Being shot with the bush destroys it, but saves players from a shot that could be lethal.

Port-a-Bunker

Port-a-Bunkers are the go-to way to engage in combat in Fortnite OG‘s Zero Build mode since players cannot create cover other than by throwing a portable bunker that provides the height and defendable walls to shoot at opponents in the open. The instant structures are incredibly handy in late-game fights, especially when someone needs cover to heal or revive.
