M3GAN was one of the most highly anticipated horror movie releases of 2023, and fans will want to see the first image of the upcoming sequel.

The Woman in the Yard‘s trailer shows that this villain is truly mysterious. As images of a field and a farmhouse come into view, a child’s voice says:

“When the sun is bright and the wind is still… she comes to you like a sudden chill. Draped in black from head to toe. How she got there you’ll never know.

As a family looks out the window of their house, they see a woman covered in a black cape sitting in their front yard. She then opens her hands to reveal that they’re bloody and says, “Today’s the day.” Blumhouse is known for producing a variety of great movies, from supernatural tales like Ouija: Origin of Evil and Unfriended twists on the slasher like Happy Death Day and Freaky. It looks like The Woman in the Yard is a powerful paranormal story about one family’s quest to survive against a foe they don’t understand. The movie stars Estella Kahiha, Peyton Jackson, Russell Hornsby, and Danielle Deadwyler as the family and Okwui Okpokwasili as the woman.

It looks like this will be an exciting year for Blumhouse as the company is also releasing its killer doll sequel M3GAN 2.0 and the creepy The Grabber will return in The Black Phone 2. Since Blumhouse is releasing several highly anticipated horror sequels in 2025, Jason Blum spoke about the reason why Blumhouse’s sequels are so excellent. He told Den of Geek in a 2024 interview:

“I think the most important factor to creating a successful sequel is to have the people responsible for the original movie back. Hollywood doesn’t do that a lot, but on almost all the sequels we’ve done—not all, but almost all the sequels we’ve done—we have the original people back. There’s a tone and a magic dust in a movie that connects with the culture.”

The Woman in the Yard will be in theaters on March 28th, 2025. According to JoBlo, the movie was originally slated to be released on January 10th, 2025. It was then pushed back so the Blumhouse horror movie Wolf Man could be released on January 17th, 2025. There are definitely a lot of exciting new releases for fans of spooky stories to check out.
