Fortnite has a huge player base, but it’s often split between normal players and what everyone has come to term as sweats. Sweats are the try-hard players, those who are constantly breaking a sweat, busting builds, boxing up, and generally taking every random pubs game as seriously as the FNCS finale. The sweatiest Fortnite skins are how you can catch these in the wild.
The sweatiest skins mark a player out in most lobbies. Every Duo or team has their own ways of describing skins. It’s not uncommon to see some of these skins simply referred to as “sweat” in callouts though.
A sweat skin isn’t inherently the mark of a good player. There are plenty of try-hards sporting them too that can’t win Fortnite games. However, it’s worth highlighting just what the sweatiest Fortnite skins are.
Sweatiest Fortnite Skins
What are the biggest Fortnite sweat skins? There are a few factors which are typical to a lot of them. For many, it’s the so-called zero-lag skins. Skins that players insist have a slight advantage over others in terms of performance. It’s basically insignificant. However, for those looking for imperceivable increases, these skins are a must. Then there’s the hitbox actor
All Fortnite skins have the same hitbox, other than one, the Giant Chicken. So really any skin other than him would have the same advantage, but that doesn’t stop players sticking to smaller physically looking characters While the hitboxes are similar throughout, the perceived size does change how players interact with your characters. Making female smaller skins much better for sweats. So, which are the most popular skins that match these requirements?
10. Arctic Adeline
A former Winterfest skin what’s made Arctic Adeline one of the sweatiest Fortnite skins? It’s a combination of a few different things. It’s one of the “low-lag” skins that sweats like, it’s a female skin with a smaller feeling hitbox. Plus, it has a relatively plain color scheme.
9. Par Patroller
Par Patroller is a fun one, it’s one of the Fortnite sweat skins that dates back a little bit. This skin has been used by the try-hards across the Fortnite Chapters! It’s a golf-themed skin, but relatively simple so suiting the needs of the pro community.
8. Siren
Siren is one of the sweatiest Fortnite skins, and one that isn’t really sweaty for any particularly noticeable reason. It’s not an OG skin or anything, originally added back in Chapter 2 Season 2. However, for some reason, this design has absolutely taken off with sweaty players.
Almost in keeping with them being such sweaty skins, Siren has even been the base for an FNCS Fortnite skin. This gave it a makeover to match the aesthetics of Fortnite’s sweatiest competitive event.
7. Runway Racer
Runway Racer is a racing-themed skin. It’s another skin that has a simple design to fit that “low lag” thing sweats go for.
6. Lara Croft
Lara Croft at one point was another crossover skin and not particularly regarded as anything all that special, aside from to fans of Tomb Raider. However, over time it has become one of the sweatiest Fortnite skins.
Rare for a countdown of Fortnite skins, this is one of only a tiny amount of Fortnite collabs that make the best Fortnite Sweat skins list. Lara Croft was featured in a bad season. Maybe using it some kind of testament to your willingness to grind out a Battle Pass even when Fortnite became a borderline unplayable crating game. However, it might just be that it’s a simple skin with a female hitbox.
5. Aura
Aura is one of the most used Fortnite skins, but also one of the sweatiest. This is a skin that has been around for a little while, but some players believe it to be a low-lag skin. Meaning there’s little to load in with the skin thanks to its more basic design. Between this and the smaller feeling hitbox, it’s a skin. A lot of sweaty players stick with it.
Aura on the surface feels like a pretty random choice for the Fortnite sweat skins. It’s just a specific female skin, nothing really to it. However, it’s often held up as having the lowest lag out of skins, which makes it the most popular choice outside of others that give a competitive advantage.
4. Soccer Skins
The soccer skins might not be the biggest Fortnite sweat skins right now, but they were kind of the originals. These skins were rocked by all the wannabe pros back in Chapter 1. To this day, long-time players might take a soccer skin a tad more seriously in each lobby. Although the days of Soccer skins all over Fortnite esports events are gone.
Since Chapter 2-3, they’ve been largely superseded by the skins higher here. However, for a long time, these basic soccer outfit skins were the sweatiest skins in Fortnite. You still see them on good players from time to time, showing off the OG Sweat.
3. OG Skins
Fortnite OG might be back as a permanent mode, but the game’s original skins are still exclusive to their first release. Battle Pass exclusivity was still a thing for Chapter 1. A lot of people just like to show off how long they’ve been performing well at the game by wearing older high-level Battle Pass skins.
This is a fun Fortnite sweat skin, although it usually just means the female plainer skins still. One example of this that’s fallen off lately has been Renegade Raider, which was brought back after a long absence. Which naturally means less OGs are running the skins.
2. FNCS Skins
The FNCS Skins are released to coincide with each tournament, themed after the vague color scheme of the broadcasts. You don’t exactly need to be an FNCS-level player to get these skins, anyone in the shop can pick them up. Yet they’re a major focus for wannabe sweats. You’ll particularly see the FNCS Siren variant used by sweats at the moment.
1. Superhero Skins
In the number one spot, it has to be the most common, annoying, and controversial skin ever added to Fortnite. The Superhero skins could also be named, the reason we can’t have fun things.
It’s a bit of a story, the fate of the superhero customizable skin. Added as a fun way for players to create their own characters. Then the sweats found them, and they did unholy things with the options. Within days of their release, players running entirely one-color skins. Featureless, morph-suit-like characters. Perfectly suited for blending in, making them pure blackness or white. And in terms of the mythical low-lag skin? This one is entirely featureless. It’s a plain body with a single color applied. Nothing to even indicate it’s alive.
These skins and their obvious competitive advantage made them much more popular with pros than anything else along with sweats. They were briefly banned from Fortnite esports for this reason, but have since been re-enables with just the slight change of eliminating some combinations. They still clearly offer a competitive advantage in a lot of situations. Making them by far the most popular Fortnite sweat skins.
They might make tournament streams a lot more boring than the early days, but these skins are kind of charming in their own way. It’s fun that the player base of Fortnite has so much lore surrounding what is a customization option Epic might not have even planned on being used.
Why Do People Use Sweat Skins?
Those are the sweatiest skins in Fortnite, but why are some skins highlighted by players as different? Why do they become sweat skins?
There are a few factors. It all comes down to is players prioritizing performance and small metrics in-game over looking fun. The first part of this is that female skins are almost universally used thanks to their smaller size.
Then we get into a more recent phenomenon, the zero-lag skin. Some players claim there’s a tiny performance difference between skins. It’s debatable how much this is really a factor. However, for some players, the small gain is worth it to use the sweatiest skins in Fortnite.
