My Hero Academia is known for its diverse and eclectic cast of compelling characters, and none shine more than the female characters of its story. In a world where Heroes and Villains are set against each other, these female characters have to use their Quirks, combat aptitude, and smarts to accomplish their goals, regardless of whether it’s for the betterment of society or not.

From the feisty powerhouse that is Mirko to the deranged yet intriguing Toga Himiko, My Hero Academia has no end of strong, dynamic women that you can’t help but root for.

Asui Tsuyu

Quirk: Frog

Asui Tsuyu, otherwise known by her hero name Froppy, is known to be calm and levelheaded. She is also extremely observant, quickly noting the similarities between Midoriya and All Might’s Quirk within a brief time of knowing him. Mature and refreshingly blunt, Tsuyu never wastes time to get to the point.

Like the rest of her family, Tsuyu was born with a Frog Quirk. This allows her to navigate wet environments very well, using her extra-long tongue and webbed appendages to maneuver around cityscapes like Spider-Man. She is also able to secrete a toxin using her saliva, which leaves her opponents temporarily paralyzed.

Yaoyorozu Momo

Quirk: Creation

One of the wealthiest characters in the series, Yaoyorozu Momo is not only academically gifted, but she also has a mind for strategy. Despite her obvious talents, Momo is shown to be insecure about herself, and this causes her to overthink situations. With the help of her teachers and fellow 1-A classmates, she gradually overcomes this hurdle as the series progresses.

With her Creation Quirk, she is able to create any object using the lipids in her body. However, she has to learn and understand the make-up of the specific object she wants to create, which may have contributed to her studious nature. Momo becomes the de facto leader in most high-pressure situations, with her classmates deferring to her when it comes to cooking up battle plans.

Midnight

Quirk: Somnambulist

An Art History teacher at her alumnus and a full-time Pro-Hero, Midnight was well-loved among the pupils she taught. Playful and a tad obsessed with youth, Midnight (real name Kayama Nemuri) was once an upperclassman to Eraser Head and Present Mic. As a teacher, she is shown to be caring and encouraging, offering advice to students when needed.

Midnight has a Somnambulist Quirk, wherein her skin releases a gas that puts others to sleep. Her Quirk helped take down multiple Villains without a fight, and she wielded a whip to capture opponents and inflict damage. Although her life was cut short during the Paranormal Liberation War Arc, Midnight fought for the safety of her students to the bitter end.

Hado Nejire

Quirk: Surge

A third-year UA Hero Course student and one of the Big Three, Hado Nejire is energetic, to say the least. Unlike her shy friend Amajiki, Nejire is a bright, cheerful extrovert, who has the ability to hurl a dozen questions within the first minute of meeting someone. She is naturally curious and takes Tsuyu and Ochako under her wing during Hero Work-Studies.

A mentee of the Hero Ryukyu, Nejire has a Surge Quirk, which allows her to convert her life force into energy waves. She assisted in the raid on the Shie Hassaikai’s base and took part in the battle against Shigaraki during the Paranormal Liberation War and the Final War.

Ryukyu

Quirk: Dragon

The Dragoon Hero: Ryukyu — real name Tatsuma Ryuko — made her first appearance during the Shie Hassaikai Arc. A temperate and composed mentor to Hado Nejire, she took in Tsuyu and Ochako as Work Studies students and prioritized their safety during the raid on the Shie Hassaikai.

Ryukyu has a Dragon Quirk, which grants her the ability to shift into a massive dragon. She uses this form to shield her allies and go up against hard-hitting opponents. She took part in the effort to take down Shigaraki during the Paranormal Liberation War and attempted to stop Shigaraki from using the Quirk-destroying drug on Eraser Head.

Toga Himiko

Quirk: Transformation

One of the most intriguing Villains in the series, Toga Himiko, instantly captured our interest the moment she first appeared on screen. Himiko is a serial killer with an unhealthy obsession with blood, but she is also fascinated with love and romantic relationships, as any teenage girl would. Although clearly unhinged, she had a tragic background, experiencing Quirk discrimination and a lack of understanding and care from those around her.

Her Quirk, Transform, allows her to shift into any person after consuming their blood. This makes it easy for her to infiltrate any organization, as seen when she snuck into the Provisional License Exam and the Shie Hassaikai base. Himiko’s Quirk underwent an evolution in Season five, which grants her the ability to use the Quirks of those she shifts to, but only if she feels love for them.

Mirko

Quirk: Rabbit

Mirko, real name Usagiyama Rumi, is the No 5 Hero and an absolute beast in the field. She debuted on the show during the Hero Billboard Rankings and immediately strikes you as a bold, tenacious, and fiery personality.

She showed you how badass she truly is during the raid on Jaku Hospital, where she single-handedly tore through several Nomu to reach Shigaraki and Doctor Garaki. Despite losing an arm and a leg during the fight, she donned prosthetics and rejoined the fray during the Final War, clashing with Shigaraki alongside her fellow Heroes Best Jeanist and Edgeshot.

Lady Nagant

Quirk: Rifle

A former Pro-Hero, Lady Nagant was serving time in Tartarus after murdering the President of the Hero Commission. She was Hawks’ predecessor, her Rifle Quirk singling her out as a promising asset for the HSPC. As her Quirk suggests, Nagant has a built-in rifle on her right arm, and she uses strands of her hair to create bullets of varying sizes.

She was released from Tartarus after Shigaraki/All For One’s attack and came into an agreement with All For One to capture Midoriya. She switched sides, however, and although severely injured, revealed information to the Heroes regarding All For One. Despite still being in recovery, Nagant went to assist the Heroes during the Final War.

Uraraka Ochako

Quirk: Zero Gravity

Uraraka Ochako is a student of Class 1-A and one of Midoriya’s first and closest friends. A bubbly, lively, and sweet girl, Ochako pursued a Hero career to support her financially impoverished family. She is usually seen alongside Iida and Midoriya but gets along well with everyone in the class.

She demonstrated an ability to strategize during her battle against Bakugo and became a passionate proponent of martial arts throughout the series. Ochako is also endlessly kind and seeks to understand Villain Toga Himiko instead of fighting her outright, gradually turning empathetic to Toga’s situation.

Star And Stripe

Quirk: New Order

Although her time on screen was brief, Star and Stripe truly shone and showed us why she’s one of the best Heroes of her time. A former mentee of All Might, Star and Stripe (real name Cathleen Bate) rose to become America’s Number One Hero. She was the first foreign hero to intervene after Japan fell into disarray, disobeying government orders to answer her master’s call.

Her Quirk is New Order, allowing her to set a maximum of two rules to herself and her surroundings. Although she fell in battle against Shigaraki/All For One, Star dealt immense damage to Shigaraki’s body, injuring it and destroying multiple Quirks in the process.
