When you look at something like the Wii, you understand why many games are stuck to it due to the motion controls, but with the PS4, not so much. Many titles could easily get ported to PC, with the major exception of VR games. PSVR1 had many exceptional exclusives that will likely forever remain exclusive due to the technology, and it’s unfortunate.

Exclusively for PS4 means no PC port or no native PS5 version.

Bloodborne

The Most Requested PC Port In The PS4 Library

By far, the most demanded PS4 game to come to PS5 or PC is Bloodborne, and for good reason. One of the biggest fan-favorite games in FromSoftware’s catalog, Bloodborne has some of the best visual design on the PS4 with its gothic dark fantasy look. It’s a great game, but playing it now is rough due to the 30fps cap and poor visual quality, even on a PS5 Pro.

Bloodborne needs a next-gen update, or PC version, to make it up to date with current standards. Sadly, even though there’s huge demand, Sony has done nothing. At least PS4 emulation has caught up in the meantime, so that’s an option if you want that juicy 4K 60fps, but you’ll need a beast of a PC.

P.T.

The Lost Silent Hill Game

Here’s a title that’s truly a PS4 exclusive, as you cannot play it on a PS5. P.T. was the playable teaser for Hideo Kojima’s Silent Hill game, Silent Hills. Despite it being a free demo, this game changed the horror landscape for a while, with many similar games in its wake, like Layers of Fear.

It packed so much scare factor in such a tight space. Sometimes, less is more. Since Kojima left Konami in 2015, Silent Hills was subsequently cancelled, leading to the delisting of P.T. You can’t even redownload the game if you uninstalled it. With it being over a decade since the release of P.T., it’s safe to say this game isn’t coming back ever again.

Astro Bot Rescue Mission

The True First Game In The Astro Bot Series

The 2024 Game of the Year by most outlets, including The Game Awards, was Astro Bot. The best 3D platformer in nearly 15 years, many also know Astro’s Playroom, the pre-installed effectively tech demo PS5 game. However, the true predecessor to Astro Bot’s 3D platforming goodness was the PSVR1-exclusive Astro Bot Rescue Mission.

Technically, it’s the third game in the series, but it’s the first one with Astro as the focus and in the title, making it the true first instalment. Many haven’t played this, but you need to because it’s nearly as good as Astro Bot, and the full 3D VR experience makes it a platformer like no other. With it being a PSVR1 exclusive, Rescue Mission is unlikely to appear on PC, and it’s a shame as it’s one of the best VR games of all time.

2016 was a big year for PlayStation’s signature lombax and robot duo, as both a feature-length film and the PS4’s built-from-the-ground-up remake of the original released. Many elements of the PS4 2016 Ratchet & Clank would later be implemented in Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, a very successful early PS5 exclusive later released on PC.

Rift Apart is available on PC, so why not the previous game? Heck, even a native PS5 port would be deserved, given that the 2016 title could use a visual overhaul to make the visuals more in line with Rift Apart.

Deracine

A FromSoftware PSVR Exclusive?

Bloodborne and Demon’s Souls aren’t the only FromSoftware games exclusive to PlayStation. Directed by Miyazaki himself, Deracine is an exclusive title for PSVR1. Unlike most other FromSoftware games, which are typically RPGs and action titles, Deracine is an adventure game of all things. Armored Core would be awesome in VR, but Konami already beat them to the punch on that one with Zone of the Enders VR.

Deracine isn’t that great, even for adventure game standards, and there are better adventure VR titles out there, like the Colossal Cave remake. Still, it’s a fascinatingly weird title from FromSoftware that hardcore fans will want to check out, but due to low demand, you’ll still need to play it through PSVR1.

Fist Of The North Star: Lost Paradise

The Only PS4 Exclusive Yakuza/Like A Dragon Game

Directly on the box art to Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise, it says “PS4 console exclusive game.” It’s not “only on PlayStation,” which is the phrase used for true exclusive titles. This implies a future PC port or a port to Xbox One, but that never happened. Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise is a fun action game like all the other Yakuza/Like a Dragon titles that aren’t RPGs.

Franchise super fans definitely need to check this game out. It even has a secret Amon boss fight, a series tradition. Since you can play nearly all the games on PC and Xbox today, it is unfortunate that Lost Paradise remains a PS4 exclusive and will likely remain so since it’s based on a licensed property.

Gravity Rush 2

One Of The Last Games By Sony Japan Studio

Despite Sony being a Japanese company, they only own one Japanese game studio: Team Asobi, which made Astro Bot. The reason for this is that they shut the rest of them down. One was Team Gravity at Sony Japan Studio, led by Silent Hill creator Keiichiro Toyama. The team’s final game happened to be Gravity Rush 2, the sequel to the acclaimed 2012 PS Vita title.

It’s a stellar action-adventure game, improving upon the original, and once again, has a beautiful art style. All of Sony Japan Studios’s games haven’t received any support on PC, so don’t hold out hopes for a PC version.

The Order: 1886

An Understandable Game Not Coming To PC

An early exclusive game for the PS4 was The Order: 1886, and it dropped the ball big time. Developed by Ready at Dawn, who made several stellar PSP-exclusive games, The Order: 1886 was essentially PlayStation’s Gears of War. It had the same third-person cover shooting gameplay but with more of a story focus.

The story in question did not go over well with critics, and you don’t have co-op or multiplayer, like Gears of War, leaving The Order: 1886 something to be desired. This was the final PlayStation exclusive by Ready at Dawn, and due to its poor reception and the developer closing, it will likely never get ported.

Killzone Shadow Fall was a launch game for the PS4 and a big technical showcase of what the system could do. The graphics looked really impressive back in 2013, and they still look decent now. The game itself is pretty good, but nothing groundbreaking when you look at the FPS games released at the time.

There’s a reason why Shadow Fall is an often-forgotten PS4 exclusive. Early PS4 exclusives don’t see much love in the porting department, so a PC or PS5 version probably isn’t happening.

Infamous: Second Son

PlayStation’s First Seattle-Themed Exclusive Game

While Infamous: Second Son wasn’t a launch game, it was a launch window title, released just months later. Taking place in Seattle, a place you should be familiar with if you love playing PlayStation exclusives, Infamous: Second Son is another fun superhero game, although probably the weakest in the series.

Like Uncharted 4, Second Son had its own standalone expansion in First Light that you can also play. Since Infamous was a series of very popular superhero titles in its time and has more cultural relevance than Killzone, there are better odds of seeing a PC or PS5 version, but you still shouldn’t hold your breath.
