Jordan Ruimy, the editor-in-chief of World of Reel and Tomatometer-approved critic, shared some updates about World War Hulk. According to his latest scope, Kevin Feige, the President of Marvel Studios, has reached out to several filmmakers, including George Miller, who directed Happy Feet and the Mad Max movies. There was no confirmation if Miller said “Yes.” However, Ruimy mentioned that Miller also showed interest in helming Thor 5 and it was reportedly Chris Hemsworth who set up the meeting between Miller and Feige. The Australian director and actor worked together in the 2024 movie Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. Hemsworth is also the lead star in the Thor movies and starred in the first four films — Thor (2011), Thor: The Dark World (2013), Thor: Ragnarok (2017), and Thor: Love and Thunder.
In a previous interview, Miller was asked about his thoughts on the ongoing debate about whether superhero films are cinema after Martin Scorsese’s statement that they are not. “I watch all of them,” Miller told Deadline. “To be honest, in terms of this debate, cinema is cinema and it’s a very broad church. The test, ultimately, is what it means to the audience.” Miller was previously attached to direct Justice League: Mortal. The film was announced in 2007, and it was supposed to feature an ensemble cast, including Armie Hammer as Batman, D.J. Cotrona as Superman, Adam Brody as The Flash, and Megan Gale as Wonder Woman. However, the project was ultimately shelved and Warner Bros. pursued Zack Snyder to direct the 2017 Justice League. With Miller not discounting superhero movies, he might be open to Feige’s offer.
Miller is a good choice to direct World War Hulk not just because he believes in superhero movies but also because he possesses the experience and expertise to handle big projects with action-packed scenes and expansive storylines like the Mad Max universe.
