Summary
- Marvel Rivals Season 1 added 2 new heroes, but no new achievements or trophies.
- Overwatch added new achievements and trophies for its heroes for years, but stopped in Season 6.
- Players can still complete in-game challenges for the new heroes.
Hero shooter game Marvel Rivals continues a disappointing trend started by Overwatch 2 where new achievements and trophies are not added alongside new characters. Marvel Rivals recently kicked off its first season of new content, which notably added two new heroes to the game’s already impressive roster.
Season 0 of Marvel Rivals featured 33 playable characters, with Season 1 bumping the total up to 35 with the addition of Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman, two representations of the famous Fantastic Four group. Later in the season, Marvel Rivals fans can expect Ben Grimm, aka The Thing, and The Human Torch to join their fellow Fantastic Four teammates. Unfortunately, when The Thing and The Human Torch are added to Marvel Rivals, it doesn’t seem likely that new Xbox achievements or PlayStation trophies will be coming with them.

While there are many Marvel Rivals players who simply do not care about achievements or trophies, there are also many achievement and trophy hunters that will no doubt be disappointed by this revelation. To its credit, Blizzard’s Overwatch consistently added new achievements and trophies for players to unlock whenever new heroes were added to its roster for years, all the way until Season 6 and Illari’s debut. It’s unclear why Blizzard stopped adding new achievements/trophies for the new Overwatch 2 heroes, but it’s disappointing to see the trend continue in OW2 competitor Marvel Rivals.
Marvel Rivals Didn’t Add Any New Achievements or Trophies in Season 1
Achievement and trophy hunters may be bummed out that Reed Richards and Sue Storm don’t have their own Xbox achievements or PlayStation trophies, but the good news is that they still have their own in-game challenges to complete. This way, players are still given plenty of incentive to take a break from their mains and try out the new heroes, especially if they are players that already primarily play Duelist and Strategist classes and are looking for something fresh.
It’s always possible NetEase Games will add achievements/trophies for Mister Fantastic and The Invisible Woman in future updates, though no plans to that effect have been announced. Considering this, achievement and trophy hunters shouldn’t hold their breath that future Marvel Rivals heroes will have them either. This is a bummer for sure, but on the bright side, there will still be plenty of things to do in-game to keep players engaged for the long-term. After all, more content is on the way for Season 1, and plenty of future Marvel Rivals heroes have already leaked online, indicating a bright future for the hero shooter.
