How to Get Nightmare Tempest Mephis in WuWa

How to Get Nightmare Tempest Mephis in WuWa

Nightmare Tempest Mephis could be an excellent replacement for the main 4-slot Echo of Electro characters in Wuthering Waves. Not only does it provide additional stats, but it can also potentially make certain damage rotations much stronger compared to its regular counterpart (plus, it’s shinier than usual).

All Nightmare Echoes in Wuthering Waves provide similar bonuses, but while most are easy to reach, Nightmare Tempest Mephis is locked behind a few subtle steps. Here’s what you need to do to unlock this boss.

This boss is found in the large, circular arena in the Shores of Last Breath in the Fagaceae Peninsula. However, before you can fight Nightmare Tempest Mephis, you will need to do a couple of things.

First, you must complete the Where Winds Return to Celestial Realms quest in WuWa — this is an exploration quest set in the Shores of Last Breath. It’s a fairly simple combat-oriented quest, and while you can finish it in one sitting, it’ll take a while to complete. This quest is essential to reaching Nightmare Tempest Mephis, as the boss’ arena will be unreachable until it is completed.

The second is to discover all the Dream Patrols in the Shores of Last Breath. You don’t need to finish any of the patrols. Just finding them so that they appear on your map is enough. Once you do discover all of them, a message saying that Nightmare Tempest Mephis will appear, and you’ll be able to find and fight it on the map location in the image above.

Should You Use Nightmare Tempest Mephis?

Nightmare Tempest Mephis in WuWa

The answer to this depends on what stats you get from your Echo drops and which Wuthering Waves character you want to build. Nightmare Tempest Mephis innately gives characters bonus Electro DMG when it’s placed in the main Echo slot, and it can come in either the Void Thunder or Empyrean Anthem Sonata sets. The former is generally good for all Electro damage dealers, while the latter is more for characters who can perform Coordinated Attacks such as Yinlin and Yuanwu.

Additionally, Nightmare Tempest Mephis’ transformation attack is different from its regular variant. This could open up some better rotations for certain characters or teams. This and the passive Electro DMG bonus make Nightmare Echoes worth checking out for most characters.

However, players should still prioritize getting Echoes with good stats. If your Nightmare Tempest Mephis has worse stats than a regular one, then you might get better results overall by using the normal variant.
