Honkai: Star Rail - Predicting Tribbie's Impact on the Meta

Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.0 will kick off the game’s newest major adventure. The Astral Express travels to a new planet called Amphoreus, which will bring a bunch of fresh content, primarily new settings, characters, and stories inspired by Ancient Greek mythology. One of these confirmed new units is Tribbie, who looks to be a good all-around support character, according to recent leaks about their kit.

Tribbie follows the Path of Harmony and uses Quantum as their main element, according to Honkai: Star Rail’s official announcement for the character. This unit is composed of identical triplets of Fate who listen to the prophecy of deliverance and travel to different worlds to spread the word. They are also known as Trianne, Tribios, or the title of “Holy Maiden of Janusopolis.” Tribbie is likely based on the Greek Fates known as the three Moirai: Clotho, Lachesis, and Atropos. They also take inspiration from the Roman god Janus, who represents different concepts, like gateways and passages of time.

Honkai: Star Rail is teasing upcoming Version 3.1 five-star character Tribbie, giving fans a first look at some of her in-game animations.

Tribbie Looks to Break the Conventions of the Harmony Support in Honkai: Star Rail

Harmony characters usually provide big buffs to teammates’ damage stats like ATK, Elemental Damage, and CRIT. Units that follow this Path often deal low damage on their own to balance things out. Therefore, players expect to play Harmony units in Honkai: Star Rail as pure support characters. Tribbie, however, could break this tradition and go into sub-DPS territory with their possible Basic Attack, Ultimate, and Talent abilities.

The following ability descriptions are based on combined information from reliable leakers like Uncle Guoba, shiroha, HomDGCat, and Ao Leaks. However, players should expect differences in the official versions of the skills once Tribbie and The Herta are released.

Tribbie’s Leaked Abilities

  • Basic Attack: Deals damage to up to a single target and adjacent enemies.
  • Skill: Provides a team-wide damage boost and RES PEN.
  • Ultimate: Damages all enemies and creates a barrier. When allies attack an opponent, the opponent with the highest HP takes extra DMG equal to a percentage of Tribbie’s max HP. Some leaks suggest that this will also do an additional wave of damage to all enemies.
  • Talent: When a teammate uses their ultimate, Tribbie will do a follow-up attack equal to a percentage of Tribbie’s Max HP.
  • Technique: When this is active, it automatically triggers Tribbie’s Skill upon entering combat.

Tribbie Could be an Ideal Support for The Herta

Based on Tribbie’s leaked abilities, they support their allies more by dealing damage to opponents using their basic attack, talent, and ultimate. Some players have pointed out that they could be the ideal support for The Herta. The latter requires another Erudition character on their team to get the most out of their Talent’s damage multiplier and major trace’s CRIT boost. Tribbie’s team-wide Damage and RES PEN increase can benefit The Herta and her sub-DPS.

Tribbie Also Fits Follow-Up Teams

Tribbie’s multi-target attacks make finishing off low enemies or setting up efficient wave wipes with The Herta and Jade a breeze. This unit is also an excellent choice for any follow-up team, as their follow-up attack can help with building stacks for Feixiao’s ultimate, Aventurine’s FUA, and advancing Numby’s actions. Tribbie, when built right, can also have excellent survivability on top of big damage. This is because their Ultimate and Talent scale off of their Max HP.

Players could run Longevous Disciple as their Relic set and Fleet of the Ageless as their Planetary Ornament, which provides a 12% Max HP boost each. Fleet generally is an excellent choice for supports like Tribbie because it also offers a team-wide ATK boost. Tribbie is shaping up to be a versatile unit capable of providing useful team-wide buffs and multiple attacking opportunities. As such, players looking for a perfect teammate for The Herta or an alternative to Robin in their follow-up teams should save their Stellar Jades for the Maiden of Janusopolis.
