The free-to-play mobile game, ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition, has crossed three million downloads within three weeks of launch. Released on December 18, 2024, the survival game is a spin-off set in the same universe as 2017’s ARK: Survival Evolved.
Despite getting a mixed critical reception at launch, ARK: Survival Evolved sold reasonably well, crossing the one million mark even before it officially came out. Credit to its popularity, the original was eventually remastered and released in early access in 2023 as ARK: Survival Ascended, with a major graphical overhaul. Apart from mainline games, the Studio Wildcard-owned IP has also spawned a few different spin-off titles. The latest among these entries is ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition, developed by Grove Street Games, which is currently available on iOS and Android. It is a free-to-play survival game that lets players collect resources, craft various weapons, build settlements, tame dinosaurs, and more, similar to the ARK games on consoles.

On January 10, 2025, Snail Games. the publisher behind ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition, announced that the mobile game had been downloaded more than three million times in its first three weeks. As shared by the source, this launch performance overshadowed the 2018 launch of ARK: Survival Evolved‘s mobile port, owing to a 100% increase in player downloads. The game publisher further revealed that Grove Street Games was concurrently working on adding more content to ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition‘s dinosaur-infested world in the future, with new maps such as Ragnarok, Extinction, Genesis Part 1, and Genesis Part 2 in development.
ARK Mobile Game Sees Promising Launch Stats, Marks Another Strong Release by the Developer
While the downloads on the App Store and the Play Store show strong promise, ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition simultaneously continues to climb up the stores’ popularity rankings. At the time of writing, the game sits at the 24th spot on the list of adventure games on iOS and ranks 9th among the top-grossing adventure games on Android. On one hand, it is currently rated 3.9 out of 5 based on 412 ratings on the App Store, whereas its Play Store rating is 3.6 out of 5 based on over 52.5K user scores. Interestingly, this marks another noteworthy launch in the ARK franchise by Grove Street Games, which previously also led the development of ARK: Survival Evolved‘s improved Nintendo Switch port in 2022.
After hitting the first-party mobile storefronts last month, ARK: Ultimate Mobile Edition is next set to be available via the Epic Games Store in 2025, giving players more control over which platform they download it from. Recently, Studio Wildcard shared an updated roadmap for ARK: Survival Ascended‘s future, giving a glimpse at the content planned to ship out throughout the next several months. Next, fans may expect the American developer to reveal the status of ARK 2, which worryingly missed its expected release window of late 2024.
