  • Games like Ryse: Son of Rome, Project Gotham Racing and Fusion Frenzy were mentioned, giving fans a trip down memory lane.

When one thinks of Xbox as a brand, it’s easy to think of the likes of Master Chief and Halo, Gears of War and Forza. And while those franchises are certainly Xbox’s bread and butter, the gaming giant has had a number of exclusives over its history, including Crimson Skies, Project Gotham Racing and Voodoo Vince.

Unfortunately, many of these exclusives have since been long “forgotten.” And taking to Reddit, one Xbox fan asked which of the “forgotten” franchises is in most need of a revival or sequel.

Bring Back The Piñatas

Right off the rip, fans were quick to mention Viva Piñata as a franchise in desperate need of a revival. “I feel like a new Viva Piñata would be really popular with (all the) new Animal Crossing fans the Switch has brought,” one user wrote in response.

The Rare-developed game was a massive hit in 2006, with Phil Spencer saying in a 2007 interview, “You won’t hear us inside Microsoft talking about Viva Piñata as anything other than a success.” Unfortunately, 2008’s Trouble in Paradise stands as the last full game.

Fusion Frenzy was also another popular pick among fans, with one writing, “Fusion Frenzy with online lobbies would rule.” For reference, the Fusion Frenzy last made an appearance in 2007 in a less than favorable sequel that many would rather forget.

Elsewhere, Ryse: Son of Rome, the Xbox One launch title, was also a fan favorite. A sequel to Ryse ultimately didn’t materialize due to a dispute between Microsoft and Crytek. Meanwhile, Project Gotham Racing also got some love in the replies, with fans citing PGR2 as their favorite.

For longtime Xbox fans, the entire thread is a massive trip down memory lane. Other titles mentioned include the likes of Crimson Skies, MechAssault and Blinx. Ultimately, only time will tell if any of these “forgotten” games will ever get a revival. But one thing is clear: They still live on in the minds of gamers.
