Days before the return of the Plunderstorm game mode to World of Warcraft, Blizzard revealed some of the pirate-themed rewards that players can earn including pets, mounts, and cosmetic ensembles. The new World of Warcraft rewards will be available via the Plunderstore, which replaces the old Renown track and gives Plunderstorm players more choices in picking out the rewards they want.
Initially introduced during Patch 10.2.6 of the Dragonflight expansion, Plunderstorm is a battle royale PVP game mode on the retail World of Warcraft client that pits up to 60 players against one another in the Arathi Basin. Taking inspiration from games such as Fortnite, Plunderstorm allowed players to queue up either Solo or in Duos to grab Plunder and utilize spells inspired by World of Warcraft‘s 13 classes to take down the competition. The original run of Plunderstorm lasted over a month and was received positively by World of Warcraft players looking for a change of pace. Although Blizzard originally planned for it to be a limited-time event, World of Warcraft players have since requested Plunderstorm to return.
