Someone’s Dream
Full Of Hilarious And Weird Moments Before The Arc Becomes Serious
- Episode Number: 45
- Story Arc: Swordsmith Village
Tanjiro developed a bad habit of breaking his sword time and time again in battles, even though the opposition he faced was very strong. This doesn’t sit right with Hotaru, who confronts him in a rage before telling him to visit the Swordsmith Village to acquire a worthy replacement.
This episode also gives an extended introduction to the Mist and Love Hashira, who accompany Tanjiro in his travels, along with Genya. Both characters are hilarious in their own right and add to the weirdness of the only lighthearted episode in the Swordsmith Village arc before the conflict escalates to much more serious territory.

To make things weirder, Tanjiro accidentally unmasks Inosuke to reveal a pretty face that is totally unlike the personality of the man trying to kill his sister. It’s a memorable way to introduce Inosuke before the stakes are raised once again.

It’s a brief introduction that takes place right before things get serious, yet fans can’t help but find Zenitsu’s behavior off-putting. He embodies a cliche in anime that needs to be done away with soon, but Zenitsu’s Thunder Breathing style is enough to endear him to most viewers.

To Bring A Smile To One’s Face
The Paper Plane Contest Is Pretty Weird
- Episode Number: 59
- Story Arc: Hashira Training
The Hashira Training arc was substantially lengthened in the anime to flesh out the series’ characters before the final conflict. This was a good move, although it did lead to some odd moments, like when Tanjiro and Muichiro decided to compete in a paper plane contest.
The designs of some of the paper planes were very odd and shouldn’t have flown as well as they did. Regardless, it’s still a fun bonding episode where the Demon Slayer Corps enjoy the happiness they’ve earned before Muzan eventually ruins the celebrations.

Rehabilitation Training
The Exercises That The Demon Slayers Must Complete Are Rather Offbeat
- Episode Number: 24
- Story Arc: Rehabilitation Training
After enduring a grueling battle and convincing the Demon Slayer Corps that Nezuko was harmless, the main trio healed their injuries and went through some intense training to improve their breathing techniques. This training arc is hilarious, since Tanjiro’s friends can act quite goofy.
Seeing Inosuke stretched out well beyond necessary and Zenitsu trying to escape his training every single time is quite offbeat. However, it adds to the charm of Demon Slayer and makes it clear why fans love this series, even during moments when the action and swordfights aren’t the main focus.
