Nintendo Switch 2 Dock Leaks Online With Polar Bears

Summary

  • An image said to depict the Nintendo Switch 2 dock has emerged online.
  • The photo comes from NextHandheld, the same source who recently leaked several legitimate-looking images of the Switch 2.
  • As with their prior leaks, NextHandheld performed an AI-powered background swap on their newly shared image. But instead of a generic workshop, they chose to draw some polar bears this time around.

An alleged image of the Nintendo Switch 2 dock has surfaced online, weirdly depicting the device alongside some polar bears. This leak comes from the same source that already shared several purported looks at Nintendo‘s next console.

The person in question goes by NextHandheld on Reddit and Twitter. Since late December 2024, this source has shared a couple of real-life images of the Switch 2 that are believed to be legitimate, not least because they match up with multiple other recent leaks and rumors about the much-anticipated device.

Nintendo Comments on Latest Switch 2 Leak

In a rare move, Nintendo offers some official comments on the latest Switch 2 leaks, which emerged online in early January 2025.

Continuing their activity, this rising star among leakers has taken to Twitter on January 12 to reveal a supposed photo of the Switch 2 dock. The image depicts the station as stuck in snow, with two polar bears being visible in the background. The leaker suggested this is a result of them doing a background swap with some generative AI software. NextHandheld’s previous Switch 2 leaks also appear to feature AI-generated backgrounds, presumably in a bid to hide the real environment(s) they originated from, thus lowering the chances of Nintendo figuring out who’s sharing them.

NextHandheld’s New Leak Matches Prior Rumors About Switch 2 Dock

As for the subject of the image, its design aligns with some prior rumors about the device. Specifically, the Switch 2 dock is said to be more rounded than its predecessor—a difference clearly visible in NextHandheld’s photo. The device is also depicted as featuring the Switch logo expanded with the addition of number two. This is consistent with NextHandheld’s prior claim that the upcoming console will simply be called the Nintendo Switch 2.

Nintendo Switch 2 Dock Dimensions Remain Unclear

Due to the AI-powered background swap performed by the source, the photo lacks any reference for scale, making it unclear how big the device is. According to a number of previous leaks, the Switch 2 will be noticeably larger than its predecessor. With reported dimensions of 270 x 116 x 14mm, the device will be bigger than even the Switch OLED Model, by far the biggest handheld that Nintendo has commercialized to date. Despite this size difference, the Switch 2 dock might not be larger, potentially allowing more of the device’s screen to extend above its top edge when docked compared to the original Switch.

Nintendo has so far twice committed to officially revealing the Switch successor during its fiscal year 2024, which is scheduled to conclude on March 31. The device itself has reportedly entered mass production no later than Q4 2024—a claim supported by the recent surge of Switch 2 hardware leaks. The console could hence feasibly hit the market from Q2 2025 onward.
