Marvel Rivals Can Now Be Played On Almost Any Device

Summary

  • Marvel Rivals debuts on Nvidia GeForce Now, offering cloud-based gameplay on various devices.
  • The game’s popular due to its large cast of iconic Marvel characters and comic-inspired graphics.
  • Marvel Rivals’ addition to GeForce Now can enhance the service’s value for fans who don’t have a high-end game console.

Hit hero shooter Marvel Rivals has debuted on GeForce Now, making it playable on almost any online device. Operated by tech giant Nvidia, GeForce Now serves hundreds of different games besides Marvel Rivals via cloud streaming.

Though it debuted early in December 2024, Marvel Rivals is easily the hottest new multiplayer game going into 2025. The large cast of playable Marvel Rivals characters draws from a pool of some of the most recognizable superheroes ever, rendered in an attractive comic-inspired style. That style even led fans to draw comparisons between Marvel Rivals and other triple-A superhero games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Marvel’s Avengers, searching for the best in-game representation of such iconic heroes. Unfortunately for some, that same graphical quality puts Marvel Rivals out of the reach of some players, particularly those who don’t own a gaming PC or a high-end game console like a PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series machine.

Rumor: Marvel Rivals Leak Teases Five New Heroes

Another Marvel Rivals leak is shared, and it teases the arrival of five new heroes, including two names well known to comic book fans.

The latest announcement from NetEase Games, however, could put Marvel Rivals on a much wider range of devices. An update on the Marvel Rivals Steam page confirmed that the game is now accessible via GeForce Now, Nvidia’s cloud-based game streaming service. Players with a GeForce Now membership can access Marvel Rivals via the service and play the game via the cloud. The debut of the game on GeForce Now comes right on the heels of the launch of Marvel Rivals Season 1, which adds the members of iconic super team the Fantastic Four.

Marvel Rivals Launches on GeForce Now Cloud Gaming Service

One of the strengths of GeForce Now is its device compatibility. Players with a membership can access many games they already own on Steam or the Epic Game Store via the cloud, playing them on smartphones and tablets or even via web browsers. In addition, GeForce Now’s cloud servers simulate high-end gaming hardware that may be better than what players have access to via their personal PCs or consoles. Provided they have a decent internet connection, a GeForce Now membership could save a potential player from having to play Marvel Rivals on a low-end PC.

Marvel Rivals also adds a serious dose of value to the GeForce Now service. Since GeForce Now mainly acts as an extension of players’ existing game libraries, players who own fewer games could get less out of the service. Adding a popular new free-to-play title like Marvel Rivals to the stable makes the service more appealing to players who don’t already own well-stocked gaming hardware. Further, it may help offset some divisive changes to the service, like having to deal with ads on the free tier, or the addition of a GeForce Now playtime limit.
