How to Beat a Pseudogiant in Stalker 2

Players will first catch a glimpse of a Pseudogiant at the end of the “Forge of Progress” main mission in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. It happens when Skif exits through the Spatial Anomaly with Prof. Hermann and teleports to random locations with mutants. One of the locations is an enclosed shipping container with a Pseudogiant sitting dormant.

After this mission, you’ll be finding Pseudogiants in various locations in the open world, especially during some side missions like “The Freedom Colosseum”, where you have to fight it in the Arena. Although there are containers that you can use to get a height advantage over the Pseudogiant and shoot it from a safe distance, you may not be so lucky if you encounter one out in the open. Here’s what to do when that happens.

Pseudogiant Attack Patterns

A Pseudogiant has three main attacks that it’ll use against players.

  • Shoulder Charge: When at a distance, the Pseudogiant will shoulder charge to quickly close the distance to the player, knocking them down if they get hit.
  • Double Slam: The mutant will launch two sets of punches, even if you dodge the first one.
  • Ground Pound (Shockwave): Pseudogiant will jump into the air and slam its arms and body into the ground, which will knock back players if they’re caught in the attack. The shockwave produced by its force can also go through walls and objects.

Best Weapons & Strategies to Use Against a Pseudogiant

The absolute best weapon against a Pseudogiant is the RPG-7U Rocket Launcher in Stalker 2. The weapon has great destructive power and can be easily used on the Pseudogiant, as it generally moves slowly compared to a Chimera.

However, a combination of a sniper rifle like the Gauss Gun and a shotgun like the Saiga D-12 can be deadly effective. At the start of the encounter, land one or two shots with the sniper rifle to lower the health of the mutant. After quickly dodging its first few attacks by jumping to the side, rapidly firing the shotgun on its head to deal increased damage.

In addition to following the combat tips, you must use the environment to your advantage. Try to reach a higher ground where the Pseudogiant can’t follow you and deal damage to it from a distance. Heading inside small doorways can also be effective in taking a breather before getting back into the fight.
