Players will encounter threats of different scales while exploring the world of Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. One of the most dangerous creatures that you’ll encounter is a Chimera mutant, which is one of the fastest and deadliest apex predators in the game. On top of having two heads and immense speed, they’re also quite tanky, which requires players to have a large stock of ammunition before encountering one. Let’s go over everything players need to know to take on a Chimera mutant in Stalker 2.

Burers are one of the toughest enemies in Stalker 2: Heart of Chonobyl as they can use various telekinesis abilities against the players.
How to Beat a Chimera Mutant in Stalker 2
Players will first encounter a Chimera mutant during the “Ad Astra Per Aspera” main mission in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl. During the mission, fighting the Chimera isn’t required as the main goal is to run away from it and reach the Clear Sky base. However, there are further encounters with the mutant, either in the open world or during specific missions that will require you to beat it, i.e. A Minor Incident or The Freedom Colosseum side mission in Stalker 2.
If you’re facing off against a Chimera and want to beat it, you’ll need to have an ample stock of ammunition due to the mutant’s high HP. You’ll also need to have a good amount of energy drinks to avoid running out of stamina while you’re sprinting or jumping around the mutant.
Chimera Attack Patterns
Chimera doesn’t have any special abilities like Telekinesis or elemental attacks, but it does have a huge speed advantage. When you first approach the mutant, it’ll quickly start dashing after you almost immediately. After closing the distance, it’ll start unleashing its sharp claws at you which inflict a bleed status effect as well.
Another attack that the Chimera loves to spam is the pounce attack, which is extremely difficult to dodge due to its sheer speed. If there’s some distance between you and the Chimera, it’ll quickly pounce at you, covering a great amount of distance in the blink of an eye. This attack does a lot of damage to the players but, thankfully, does not cause bleeding.
Best Weapons & Strategies to Use Against a Chimera
Due to Chimera’s big hitbox, it’s recommended to use an Assault Rifle with a grenade launcher attachment and a Saiga D-12 shotgun. The Chimera is a very agile creature that’s always on the move, so Saiga will help you fire several shotgun rounds into it quickly. Once the Chimera runs away from you, try firing a grenade launcher shell at it.
During the fight, it’s recommended that you stay on the move and don’t stay still for a long time. Once you get a hang of Chimera’s attack pattern, dealing with it will become significantly easier.
