Red Dead Redemption 2 is Rockstar’s magnum opus by a country mile. It features a beautiful world and an incredible story that shows just how much Rockstar’s writing has improved. A slow and methodical approach was implemented to develop this open-world game that can be a nightmare to Platinum.

Along with getting a gold medal in every mission, players must complete their fair share of open-world activities and hunt down well-hidden collectibles. The latter isn’t obvious and can add a ton of hours for people who are struggling to get a Platinum trophy for Red Dead Redemption 2.

It’s a shame that Metal Gear Solid 5 falls apart in the second half, making it clear where Kojima left the game’s development. This means that the bulk of the tougher trophies in the game are more grating to get because of the grind involved, coupled with the lack of interest most players will experience in the game’s latter stages.

Monster Hunter World

It’s Easy To See Why The Grind In This Game Would Be Overbearing For Many

Released

January 26, 2018

OpenCritic Rating

Mighty

Monster Hunter World features a compelling gameplay loop and is quite accessible, serving as the entry point for many gamers into this illustrious series. The gameplay loop of hunting down tough monsters and acquiring their resources to craft more powerful weaponry is something that fans can’t get enough of.

However, this is dialed up to 11 if players want to secure a Platinum Trophy in this title. The grind is exhausting, and players must rely on RNG to ensure that they get the items they need, which can make for a frustrating affair that most players are better off avoiding.

Grand Theft Auto 5 broke new ground when it launched and quickly shot up the charts to become one of the most popular open-world games ever made. The benefits of an advanced engine, coupled with the inclusion of three distinct protagonists, ensured that players could enjoy this title whenever they boot it up, with GTA Online adding to the game’s longevity.

However, getting a Platinum in this title is far from easy. With the modern re-release of this title grouping both single-player and multiplayer achievements in one bucket, it’s easy to see why players may spend hundreds of hours before finally securing the Platinum they need for Grand Theft Auto 5.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

OpenCritic Rating

Mighty

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is one of the best open-world RPGs ever made, with the next-gen update giving players another reason to revisit this masterpiece. However, one thing to keep in mind is that the chase for Platinum can turn even something as amazing as this title into a downright slog.

Players must play the game at the highest difficulty, achieve some tricky feats in combat numerous times, and ensure that they do everything possible to not miss certain trophies. This can get quite frustrating, and only the most dedicated trophy hunters around should attempt to secure the Platinum Trophy in The Witcher 3.

Yakuza Kiwami

The Majima Everywhere System Can Make The Grind A Nightmare To Deal With

Released

August 29, 2017

OpenCritic Rating

Strong

Since the first Yakuza entry was shorter and less ambitious than any other entry in the series, it’s easy to see why RGG Studio wanted to make the remake’s side content as engaging as possible to add to the game’s runtime. This was achieved with the Majima Everywhere system.

Seeing Majima pop up all around the map is hilarious, but players grinding out the Platinum Trophy will hate this eccentric character in no time. It doesn’t help that players need good RNG for some of the trophies, which makes Majima Everywhere even more grating to deal with if players are unlucky for too long.
