The production for Avengers: Doomsday will begin before the first quarter of the year ends and last for five months.
Movie scooper Daniel Richtman shared an update about Avengers: Doomsday. According to him, the scriptwriters are still working on the screenplay because it’s not yet done. However, they have until March to finish it. A document obtained by Maxblizz earlier revealed that the Doomsday production will start in March in London, United Kingdom. The cast and crew will film until August. The update about the script sparks concern of a potential delay. “So reshoots, potential rewrites, filming, VFX, editing, trial audience showings, advertisement. All going to happen in about a year on what should be a blockbuster film? Yeah, think might be delayed,” one commented. Another opined, “So technically, the film is delayed?” The same user pointed out that it would be impossible for the team to work on the script while shooting the film and do the post-production within a year. A different online user shared the same sentiment, saying it’s impossible to finish the whole project in a year since there is still much work left to do.
Aside from the rumored delay, the news received mixed responses from fans. Some do not have issues with it, and instead, they want the scriptwriters and the whole team to take their time and not rush the process to deliver a quality output. A few admitted that they were disappointed about the progress of the script but were hopeful because they believed that “a refined script could mean a stronger story.” “With the March deadline approaching, let’s hope the wait pays off with a blockbuster worthy of its title!” Yashh wrote.
Ideally, the script should be ready 3 to 6 months before production begins. So, by now, the script for Avengers: Doomsday should be done because the production will start in two months. Unfortunately, this is not the case, so the concern about a potential delay is understandable. In addition, Marvel movies are prone to delays due to script revisions. Marvel Studios also tends to revise its scripts during pre-production and even production to align them with MCU’s storylines or address creative feedback.
Marvel has a history of pushing back films. For instance, Captain America: Brave New World was originally set for release on May 3, 2024, but it was delayed and pushed back to February 14, 2025. However, the studio has also moved some movies to an earlier release to reduce the risk of spoilers. For instance, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame were released a week earlier in 2018 and 2019, respectively. As for Avengers: Doomsday, it is still on schedule since the scriptwriters still have time to finish the screenplay before production begins. Hopefully, there will be no delays because fans have been waiting for the next Avengers movies for over five years already.
Avengers: Doomsday will hit theaters on May 1, 2026.
