The Current Order Of The Yonko In One Piece

  • Luffy and Buggy are the Latest Additions

The Four Emperors were first brought up in the story by none other than Garp, and it is safe to say that Oda did a phenomenal job at incorporating them into the plot and giving them massive roles as well. Back during the Water 7 Saga, the Four Emperors were made up of Whitebeard, Big Mom, Kaido, and Shanks. Since then, the order of the Four Emperors has changed drastically. The first Yonko to fall in One Piece was none other than Whitebeard himself. The strongest man in the world attacked the Navy HQ in an attempt to rescue Ace, and didn’t fear giving his life up in the process. His killer, Blackbeard eventually went on to take his spot among the Four Emperors. Following the Paramount War, the Wano Country Arc, where the Raid on Onigashima targeting the alliance of Big Mom and Kaido took place, was the most significant when it came to the Yonko.

On Onigashima, fans saw the Worst Generation, backed up by the Samurai, Ninja, and Minks, among others, clash with mighty pirates and they did so in quite some style. Strong as the Yonko are, they weren’t able to sustain the pressure and eventually crumbled. Kid and Law, two members of the Worst Generation, were primarily responsible for taking down Big Mom, while Luffy alone did the heavy lifting in the battle against Kaido.

The result is all that mattered and both Kaido and Big Mom ended up falling. Shortly after, it was revealed to the fans that the ones replacing them were none other than Luffy and Buggy, making the new order of the Four Emperors consist of Luffy, Buggy, Shanks, and Blackbeard. These are the four mighty Emperors right now and they will go on to affect the Final Saga in ways that fans can’t even anticipate right now.

Why There Will Be Yonko Deaths In The Final Saga

The Yonko Are Bound To Fall In One Piece

It is safe to say that the Four Emperors are powerful individuals who cannot be stopped easily. Their might is such that even the Marines think twice about taking them on in combat. Fans have seen this being the case time and again in the story, and more recently, in Egghead, Oda once again went on to reiterate that the Marines cannot engage in combat with an Emperor unless they acquire permission. This is to say that even fighting a Yonko is a task and a half and killing them is even more difficult. But, despite that, fans can be sure that some of the Four Emperors will end up falling in the Final Saga.

Luffy, being the protagonist of One Piece, is generally safe. He is the one who will go on to become the Pirate King and, as such, cannot be the one to die. Luffy has to find the One Piece and become the most iconic pirate in the process. He then has to fight the World Government and liberate the world from their clutches. Undoubtedly, Luffy can’t die and should, thus, not be included in the conversation.

However, all the other Yonko are susceptible to death. Fans know that Buggy is quite weak and could easily die. But, once again, the story would gain little from his death. Buggy is there for the laughs and to surpass the expectations of the fans. Consequently, Oda can’t kill him off.

This leaves fans with Shanks and Blackbeard. Both of these characters have a decent chance of dying in the Final Saga. Shanks might be the strongest in One Piece, but he is clearly one in danger. Unsurprisingly, Shanks will engage powerful enemies in combat in the Final Saga of One Piece, which could possibly include Blackbeard, or Garling Figarland, it possibly even Imu themself. Any of these characters could mark his end, and when taking into consideration how Shanks is connected to Luffy and what his death would mean for the Straw Hat pirate, the possibility certainly becomes real.

Marineford marked the end of the first part of One Piece. Oda sets up a huge war, similar to Marinford, in the Final Saga.

As for Blackbeard, fans know that he too can fall in the Final Saga. In fact, fans ardently believe that Blackbeard will fall, given that he’s one of the biggest antagonists of the Final Saga. At some point, Blackbeard will meet his end despite acquiring great power, and that too is inevitable. As such, there are two Emperors in One Piece who will most likely go on to fall in the Final Saga.

Will The Yonko Exist At The End Of One Piece?

With Luffy Becoming The Pirate King, The Yonko Will Cease to Exist

The New Yonko In One Piece

The concept of Four Emperors comes from the idea that the seas don’t have a Pirate King and so, there exist four powerful kings who are vying for supremacy in search of the One Piece. In case Luffy goes on to become the Pirate King, then, the need for the Four Emperors won’t be there anymore. The seas cannot logically have a Pirate King as well as Four Emperors. Luffy’s ascension to the rank of Pirate King would automatically mean that the Emperors don’t exist anymore.

This goes on to back the idea that there will be more Yonko deaths. The Final Saga will test every major faction that exists in One Piece to their utmost limits and will most definitely see many powerful individuals fall in battle, and, quite clearly, Shanks and Blackbeard are certainly two of the biggest targets for Oda.

One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus apps. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1136, is set to be January 19, 2025.
