Since launching, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has faced its fair share of controversy. As the franchise continues to grow and change, some players have been unhappy with specific directions developer Treyarch has taken with Black Ops 6. While critiques can focus on a wide variety of features, one of the most outspoken criticisms is the continuous addition of crazy skins.

The main complaint about these skins is that they take the realism out of Call of Duty. While this is valid, not every player is bothered by this. Clearly, there are plenty of fans who enjoy these over-the-top skins, as they continue to be added. They may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but they are apparently doing so well that Treyarch recently doubled-down on the developer’s embrace of strange skins. Miles Leslie, Treyarch’s Associate Creative Director, defended this decision by stating it gives the team more creative freedom. So, now that it’s clear that Black Ops 6 will continue to release non-grounded skins, it’s time for Marvel to make its way to the first-person shooter.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Player Count Continues to Drop

Despite a plethora of content to enjoy, as well as a new collaboration with Netflix’s Squid Game, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is hemorrhaging players.

It’s Time For Marvel to Stake Its Claim in Call of Duty

Despite unrealistic crossover skins not being popular with every Call of Duty player, there has still been plenty of hope from fans that Marvel will someday make its way to the franchise. As one of the biggest properties in pop culture, the Marvel brand seems like a likely collaborator for Call of Duty and its spin-offs. If Black Ops 6 is going to dive deeper into over-the-top cosmetics, then the powers that be at Activision and Treyarch might as well push the limits on which franchises can be featured. Black Ops 6 may have only been out for less than six months at this point, but there are already plenty of crazy skins added to the in-game shop. Compared to a few of the game’s wilder cosmetics, a Marvel crossover would seem tame at this point, making now the perfect time for such a collaboration.

  • Raccoon Goon
  • Reborn
  • Daddy Claus
  • Dragon Knight
  • Host
  • Bloke Biter
  • Astro Chicken

Also, with the current Squid Game crossover, it’s clear that Treyarch is willing to partner with high-profile properties. Squid Game is big, but it’s not nearly as massive as Marvel. However, it still shows where Treyarch’s mind is when considering what types of crossovers to introduce to Black Ops 6.

Black Ops 6‘s Squid Game crossover is scheduled to end on January 24.

Marvel Coming to Call of Duty Would Be Monumental For the First-Person Shooter

Call of Duty has become one of the biggest names in gaming. Likewise, Marvel is now one of the biggest brands in the world. If the two were to collide, it would be a massive event for both franchises. Such a crossover would likely bump up player numbers while also potentially introducing newcomers to the game who are avid Marvel lovers. Marvel has boasted several high-profile crossovers, like its many Fortnite collaborations, and it only makes sense for a Call of Duty entry to be next in line. Certain characters would fit naturally into the setting, too, like World War 2-era Captain America or The Punisher.

Now that Marvel has its own online multiplayer venture with Marvel Rivals, it may be even harder for Captain America and Iron Man to make an appearance in Call of Duty. With its own multiplayer game, Marvel may feel less inclined to do as many crossovers, since it can generate hype from its own project. Of course, only time will tell, but it’s surprising that there still has yet to be a Marvel and Call of Duty crossover.

Last summer, leaks suggested Wolverine and Deadpool were coming to Black Ops 6, but this proved to be false.

Crazy skins in Call of Duty games will likely always be a source of debate. However, there is at least a balance of grounded options among the wilder cosmetics. Black Ops 6 may make controversial decisions sometimes, but its crossovers continue to be popular regardless.
