Where To Get New Thorns In Freedom Wars Remastered

No matter what weapons you choose to equip in your loadout in Freedom Wars Remastered; you’ll always have your Thorn wrapped on your arm. While the basics of a Thorn stay the same across each type, each of the three types of Thorns has different skills to take advantage of in combat.

Every Thorne can be used to grapple enemies or the environment to get pulled closer or to pull enemies off their feet and open them up to easy attacks. All players start out with the binding Thorn; here’s how to unlock the other two types and make your build a bit more varied.

How To Unlock New Thorns In Freedom Wars Remastered

To unlock a new Thorn in Freedom Wars Remastered, you’ll need to progress the main story until you reach CODE level 3. This should only take a few hours of playtime as the first two CODE levels are very on-rails and there are only a few requirements to rank up. Once you’ve reached CODE level, you’ll be able to unlock your new Thorns through the Window Of Liberty in your cell.

At the window, select the Claim Entitlements option at the very top and tab over to the “Thorn Types” menu which will now have three options. The first option will already be unlocked, but you’ll be able to unlock Healing and Shielding both for 100 Entitlement points a piece.

After unlocking a Thorn type you can equip it on any loadout by going down to the Thorn Type option in your loadout menu. The stats of each Thorn along with a breakdown of what it does will appear along the right side of the screen to help you make the right choice for your play style.

What Does Each Thorn Do In Freedom Wars Remastered?

The basics of grabbing and grappling is the same for all Thorns, but the charged-up skills will be different depending on which of the three Thorns you have equipped.

Binding

Places a snare that can tie up a sinner or charge further to snare an Abductor.

Abductors are dragged down faster.

Healing

Restores a single ally’s health or can be charged to drop a thicket that restores all nearby allies’ health for a short time.

Allies’ health is continuously restored throughout operations.

Shielding

Boosts your and nearby allies’ defense or can be charged further to drop a thorn wall that protects from incoming projectiles.

Allies’ defense is always slightly boosted.
